I visited my friend Mike today, and he told me he would not be traveling w/my 4wd group into Baja in April for fear of 'The Violence.' Just like the
Chupacabra spreading fear, 'The Violence' is keeping one of my best friends out of Baja...probably forever.
My belief is that the longer one stays out of Baja, the more likely 'The Fear' of 'The Violence' will turn them against 'The Baja'. I am just sick
about this. It completely ruined my evening.
On a side note, I visited Del Rio, TX last month with hopes of seeing what Ciudad Acuņa, Coahuilla looked like. As a fan of the Desperado and El
Mariachi films, this looked like a blast. I even thought about maybe retiring in this part of the country since it looks just like El Rosario, and is
so close to Mexico with Baja just 1 days drive in the opposite direction - WRONG!
'The Fear' there is much worse, and had I succumed to 'The Fear' I would not have had the 'Ganas' to follow my ears and visit Colombia so many times.
ARGH!

Took me the last two months to convince my son's buddies parents to allow their kids to travel to San Felipe with us for this Spring break.
Yeah...seems that 100% of all of Mexico is under duress from drug deals, murderers and rapers .....to the average American north of the border. I get
folks asking me if we sold off everything before the govt of Mexican fails! It's out of hand, these blown out stories.
I'll admit....folks are getting very spooked now.

I asked my wife to read "Gods Middle Finger" before we departed for the Sierra Madre. She said let's go! She is 5' tall and weighs 95 pounds. She also
has been all over Baja with me.
