Dish TV in Loreto

Dish TV really SUCKS in Loreto. I ordered two receivers in November and only one works. I have called Mexico City more than 15 times and get nothing but lies and excuses. They sent a techno out to change out the receiver and it doesn't work either. If I hadn't paid for a year in advance, I would throw the thing out on the street and order SKY. Dish is the worst service I have had in my 69 years of life. I can't see how they stay in business. I don't know about other pueblos, but I would assume its the same terrible service.

I don't know how much of this is true, but I've heard that you can have your dish service here in the states and set up the receivers in Mexico...I asked a Directv guy once and he said yes, as long as you can find the satellite.....:?: I have yet to try it at our Puerto Nuevo house.

Of course - it's done all over-as long as you can get the satellite.I have an old DISH non-HD receiver in the condo I'm renting and it's fine.I also just subscribed to the broadcast channels from NYC and SFO for $15 per month and couldn't be happier.

Couple of things...

Dish Network US has no technicians on call in Mexico City. I think capn.sharky may be referring to Dish Network Mexico? Totally different animal than Dish Network US. Think "Competitor to SKY Mexico."

Reception for Dish Network US does extend all the way down Baja to Los Cabos, although you need to use a larger dish as you move further south. We like 4' to 6' dishes in Los Cabos.

Near as I can tell, Loreto and Mulege sit in a bit of a "signal well" for Dish Network, and signal strength there seems to be a little weaker, needing a minimum of a 6' dish. Have tried in the past to get more info on this from users in the area but have not received more than a couple of reports.

One of the three main DN US satellites, the 110°, has signal in BCN but none in almost all of BCS.

Not my area of expertise but DirecTV US has signal coverage in BCN, and perhaps as far South as Santa Rosalia. No coverage at all in the Los Cabos region. Again, you'll need a larger dish the further south you go.
