I am hoping someone can hook me up with a Palm frond connection in San Ignacio. We will be in Bahia de Los Angeles for Spring Break and want to
complete our roofing at that time (last week of April). Any help/info is appreciated. We are open to driving down to S.I., buying the fronds,
trailering them back and installing them ourselves, to having them delivered and installed. We just need them and are ready to go!

Our estimate is about 1200 fronds to cover the front and back side. It's not a small job.

hi paulina...they are pretty bulky and take up alot of room...you might need to tow a utility trailer too. why dont you ask Juanita of Casa
Leree....she must know someone...they must be cut at a special time to last....cant remember if it's new moon or full moon but it is very important.
Also Gary & Terry of Ignacio springs would know someone too....ya most likely have to order them ahead of time and just pick them up...it will be

Hi Sheri,
We have a large flat bed utility trailer that we can haul down from Ensenada if it ends up that we need to drive down to get them.
I don't personally know anyone from S.I. (yet) hence my open request.
As far as ordering them ahead of time, I'm hoping that two months in advance might work. Unfortunately we are stuck to the school calendar and can't
get away until Spring Break, April 22 - May 1st. I'm hoping that we can hook up with the fronds between now and then and make it happen. Dern can
possibly go down earlier if need be.
If it doesn't work out for Spring Break we won't be down again till the end of June/first of July. We'll be in Bahia, or there abouts, through Aug.
The only problema with that is that it is way too hot to get much done, but if we have to wait till the summer months so be it. The fish will be glad
to have us off of the water.

I just found out tonight that I jumped the gun just a wee bit. The palm frond scene isn't scheduled to go down till the beginning of July. Evidently
Spring Break isn't enough time. SO, with that being said now I really have enough time to set something up.

Ah, I see you got your stairs in. However, without railing they are not to code but I fixed that problem on my place by inserting a note on the permit

Yes, I got the stairs built. Ponsonia built them for me after I left last summer. They need a little shoring up, and a railing for certain. They also
come right to the edge on that corner so Ponsonia is going to build a cement platform/step or two on both sides of the patio so that it will be easier
to access the stairs without hugging the pillar.
The steps aren't as steep as they look on the photo. You'll have to test them out. I'll hold your drink for you. In the mean time I'll add that note
on our building permit as well.

The trailer/set up we had prior to this new construction was covered in tin. A good westy came through and turned that roof into a wing and it took
off, sailing out over the Sea of Cortez. There are still some bits and pieces that we missed when we cleaned up that show up all rusty and dangerous
buried in the sand.
We are going for the tropical/surf/baja old school palapa effect this time around.

Pauline - posed with the same problem-refronding- a few years ago I opted for red 3X4 fibergalss (asbestos..) tiles - got them at Ciscos in ensenada -
they will last forever - total cost for 800 square ft = $750. My neighbor with 600 square ft paid over $1000 for palm fronds from San Ignacio that
will have to be replaced in 8-10 years, leak water, and yes will get frond beetles no mater if they are green or dry, and, in addition, harbor an
entire ecosystem of spiders, scorpions, and other things that drop on you at night (as we sleep outside in the summer this was definitly a problem).
I know the fronds look rustic but the tiles look great also- so no more fronds for Me!
