bajabass - 2-11-2011 at 05:28 AM

Family emergency, need to be in Sacramento by Monday. Is La Paz to Bahia Acunsion doable in one burro haulin' day??? Like to drop into the Tidepool Bistro for dinner.

Should take between 9 and 11 hours to get there from La Paz.

Is the Tidepool still open since Sirena and hubby have moved north ?

I'm sure our "hostess with the mostest" Shari, can find you a room !
And maybe an early fishing trip with Juan before you leave ?

I may hit the beach for a bit. Forgot about their move. I am sure I can find something good to eat there though. Leaving soon, try to make it before dark. Gas and taco stops only. Flying solo, no bano altos every hour!!!

tell ya what bass man....I shall have a lobster dinner waiting for ya here and big ole comfy bed too ...do you eat lobster? Just go straight down the main paved street...keep going when it turns to dirt till ya hit the surf beach...turn left...wind around the coast till ya get to our place which is the only house on the right side (ocean side) of the road...we'll be waiting with bells on amigo!

FYI...the tidepool is resting. Sirena, Adrian, izaak are in ensenada but we hope to have it open again in august as it was such a popular watering hole and sushi gorfing place.

I live here in Sacramento, can I be of assistance?

Bass,
since you mention an emergency, isn't Asuncion an awful long run out of the way ?:?::?::no:

Have to make that run myself next month. Close to 1300 miles from Loreto.
Not something I look forward to. Yuuuck !!!

I was thinking the same thing, Ed. Just guess it's not quite that much of an emergency.:lol:

I think he left shortly after his last post and will be putting the pedal to the metal, so may not have read all your posts and gracious offers.

comitan - 2-11-2011 at 03:41 PM

Not to worry he will be there for Shari's lobster dinner.

I always have a pee bottle handy under the seat. Or two.

no time wasted there...bass man arrived before sunset ....even before juan went shore fishing...a couple each of corbina and yellowfin croaker by the way.

So we got to know each other relaxin on the patio with cubas and abalone burritos....another nomad friendship forged!

longlegsinlapaz - 2-12-2011 at 09:20 AM

Thanks for letting us know Bajabass made it that far yesterday....he musta been flying under the radar!

shari - 2-12-2011 at 10:54 AM

not quite!!! but i'll let him tell the "bass vs. federale" tale...it's a good one with a happy ending...ummm....well, lets just say it all turned out fine.

We spent an enjoyable evening getting to know each other. Fru Fru Coffee (left by Iflyfish) and a few casts off the rocks and he was ready to beat it north....hope he's as lucky with the next patrolman.

Being the helpful sort, bass man agreed to give a ride to Nala, Sirena's doggie that was supposed to have been fixed but had 7 puppies...dog. So we had a nice send off for her...Shami & Cafe say their goodbye's....secretly happy they dont have to share their food with her anymore or put up with her sleazy boyfriends.

Cafe thinks she could stowaway for a trip to the city!

our dogs out...tailgate closed and they are ready for the next leg!

unfortunately, bass will not be eating those lovely crab omelette burritos on his trip as they are sitting on my table here...dang...well...yummm.....next time buddy.

LOL, I knew I forgot something Shari! About the time my stomach started growling. Thank you so much for the short notice accommodations! I slept like a log, listening to the waves and sea lions!
So, La Paz to BA in a day. BA to La Mision day two. La Mision to Shingle Springs day three. Only issue was 120 kph about 15 miles west of Ciudad Insurgentes. Over a rise, and POPPED! It took the nice policeman a little time to catch me. He had me dead to rights, so no use trying to lie. I was polite and respectful, as was he. After a very stern warning, I found out he likes to fish and speaks very good English.
We exchanged e-mails and phone numbers. I should be taking he and his son out fishing in La Paz soon. Ya make friends the darndest ways in Baja. Oh, Acunsion is exactly one hour from Vizcaino, and was well worth the little detour. I will have a much more relaxing return trip, and plan on bugging Juan and Shari for at least a day or two more! :o
Thanks for the offer McFez, all is fine now that I am here.
Russ, no driving in the dark, I've dodged enough bacas, borregos, chivas, and caballos to push my luck at warp speed at night. :saint:

Oh, Shari, Nala had a good trip. Sirena and she were VERY happy to see each other, and you have a very good looking family. ;D

shari - 2-14-2011 at 09:04 AM

thanks bass man....glad you arrived safely and so nice you got to meet the kids and thanks so much for taking Nala home...BTW...your burritos were delicious! hahahaha...see ya on the rebound...maybe for some calico fishing!
