We haven't had a good beer discussion (cough, fight) for a while, so let's get going.

I think Victoria has become common.....again. Don't know about the others.

I've seen them at Walmart over the years. Just don't know if they keep them in stock. Can't even remember the brand name, but there is a Spanish company that markets a couple of incredible brews that I have purchased at Walmart both in Ensenada and Cabo

I got Victoria and Indio delivered from Corona so I know they're available in the Rosarito area, however, I would assume only at the Corona Modelorama stores. Isn't there one across from the Pemex in Primo Tapia? Talk to the manager and ask that he stock or special order a few cases. I've seen the Leon brand at Smart & Final.

Anybody remember this?

Only escapees from Cleveland would know your little secret. My dad built a bar in our basement with a keg of P.O.C. in a frig backing up to the bar behind a wall for the tap.

I was too young, so I can't offer an opinion on "Pride of Cleveland" quality.

Bohemia remains my favorite Mex brew, but, my budget prefers Pacifico.

I have only seen Victoria at the Modelo Agencia on Reforma across from Commercial Mexicana.

Folks from the 'Natti say it stands for "P*ss on Cleavland". They may be right.....
I agree on your Mex beer choices - always go for Bohemia when possible.
Edit: by the way - I think it stands for "Pilsner of Cleveland."

I have been told that Indio is only available in bottles from (and including) Sinaloa south on the mainland but that it is available in kegs all throughout the country. Moctezuma distributes it. Indio is one of the least interesting dark beers I've ever tasted; very low in alcohol and very little body.

Victoria is available in liters at the Extra convenience stores (supposedly owned by Modelo) and on the shelves at Sorianas and Leys over here.

I have only seen Leon at the supermarkets as well, usually unchilled in the liquor section in liters.

My favorite beers continue to be (in order of preference, at least THIS week) Chope Oscura, Chope Lager (both only availabe on tap), Negra Modelo, Bohemia (the lager style one), Leon, Pacifico, XX Ambar and then the really light lagers like Victoria, Pacifico Light, Tecate, XX, Tecate Light. Bringing up the rear is Sol and Indio.

Favorite light beer- Pacifico Light. Favorite bottled lager style-Bohemia. Favorite overall beer- Chope Oscura.

But I can tell you; drinking all these decent Mexican beers down here has my tastes rotating from month to month and situation to situation. Sometimes I prefer the Coors Light-like lightness of Tecate Light if we're out fishing or playing softball.

Available at Ed's place in El Rosario ('Baja's Best')...

The Pacifico Light (our first time tasting) was too light for our taste, but the Victoria was enjoyed! We bought some at an El Rosario market for our day trip to las Pintas, last Sept.

Well, let's just say that the uses and appetites for beers are different for people who live down here than for people who come down for the occasional week or weekend and can slam whatever they want.

Light beer and it's corresponding lighter alcohol levels are a welcome change to drinking heavy beers and high alcohol contents all the time. And, yes, those of us retired down here CAN drink beer all of the time, if we choose. I'm not big on soft drinks, so beer is often my refresher.
