we're going to be staying at a friends place for 5 days. is there any fish that time of year from a panga? we're hoping to fish one day (any
recommendations on a guide?) and spend the rest exploring the gulf.

To me, SF panga fishing, one shouldn't have a high degree
of expectation. There is the spring run of Corvina,
which I believe is more April

Bring your surf board, I will give you the GPS of all the hot spots with 1-2 foot breakers on the incoming tidal bore!
Well......

I myself do a lot of fishing from the Sea of Cortez. Having a recreation home in San Felipe....I dont fish the area. There's not hell of a lot there.
I suggest you zoom down to Puertecitos that is now a hour away (new paved highway.
Within Puertecitos (a mile north or the town itself) one can find many pangas for rent. About $70 per person with a two max. $20 tip. You'll hit em
there unless its a windy day.
Great surf fishing from K28 and on down. Most of the settlements dont mind you driving in for a day of fishing.
Taking you own boat? I can give you greater detail info on where the holes are.
Have fun.
