Maria Isabel Avila & Oscar Valdez Beltran, Propietarios
Maria & Oscar have expanded their restaurant. They will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the restaurant, May of this year. They began the
business with 10 tables & 40 chairs. Today, they have 22 tables and 100 chairs. Their party event salon hosts 400 people.
Unknown to me, the Restaurant La Mision in Vicente Guerrero ("about" km 170, north of Isabel) is also theirs. Same menu. Second anniversary
celebration for La Mision was January this year. Oscar is proud when he says his restaurants are 100% family run by their sons and Maria &
Oscar. He is pleased when customers and friends pass by word of mouth his service and food is good.David K - 2-15-2011 at 09:06 AM

Over the years we've eaten at their restaurant. The food and service has been excellent. And the place was always quite busy.
Seems to me that they've made an enormous financial investment in buikding that new hotel/ restaurant, along with the expansion of the old restaurant.Santiago - 2-15-2011 at 03:58 PM
I first stopped at Isabel 4 or 5 years ago because of all the trucks and pickups in front. Food and service for breakfast and lunch has always been
good. Did not know about the common ownership of La Mision - I'll stop and try that place.bajacalifornian - 2-15-2011 at 08:37 PM
New hotel & restaurant building is not theirs. Rent the space, run the restaurant.MexicoTed - 2-15-2011 at 10:38 PM
Just ate their last month, fantastic as usual. First recommended to me by Antonio at Baja Cactus 6 years ago. Meals just as good as in the past.Bob H - 2-21-2011 at 01:13 PM
Audrey and I have eaten here many times over the years and the food and service was always outstanding! Great prices too.Bajahowodd - 2-21-2011 at 04:06 PM

Would love more info on this. Don't quite understand what you mean. Are you saying they rent the restaurant space and everything else is run by
someone else?
On one hand, my previous post was made because I found it somewhat odd that after all the years of running the restaurant, they would all of a sudden
spend all the money required to build the hotel and expand the old restaurant.
Someone else is behind the curtain, eh?irenemm - 2-21-2011 at 05:00 PM
Yes they rent the Rest. from the Owners who build the Hotel and Rest. that is another Family.bajacalifornian - 2-21-2011 at 05:16 PM
. . . and a restaurant totally separate ( Restaurant & Hotel La Mision, up the road in Vicente Guerrero, say 10 miles) from their own for thirty
years, the Restaurant Mission Santa Isabel. Same menu at both. Both run by Oscar & family.Bajahowodd - 2-21-2011 at 05:24 PM
Glad to have the details. It just seemed to me based upon the original posts that these folks owned the hotel, too.
Saw some photos posted on another thread of the interior of the hotel. Looked really nice. But, after all is said and done, given the limited number
of rooms at Jardines de Baja, I would still prefer to stay there and eat at their restaurant if I can get a room. JMO
