Hi. We are in San Ignacio and wanted to visit the Comondus, not having been there for 25 yrs. We read that the road from Loreto is bad, but how 'bout
the road south of Conception Bay going southwest to the Comondus? Anyone been on that lately?

I was through there last month and the fastest way is take the turn off south of Concepcion Bay to La Purisima then down to Francisco Villa then to
the Comondu's. From Hy 1 to La Purisima is about 1 1/2 hrs. and the road is good.

Hola sarita y juaquin and welcome to baja nomads! We were just there a month ago and U2U me if you need a place to stay (u2u is up in the right corner
under the login). Make sure you buy some wine...lots of families sell it, I heard the man who makes the palm trunk furniture has particularly good
stuff...say hi from shari & juan from bahia asuncion...we enjoyed staying with Negrita on the other side of the basketball court from Adan, the
furniture maker...150 pesos! there is a woman across from the little store who serves food too....great fresh ground coffee with goats milk...ummmm.

I think saritayjoaquin is asking about the original Baja main road south that went through Comondu from the bottom end of Bahia Concepcion... There is
a newer road that replaced the original one that went via Comondu Viejo (the first mission site by Rancho San Juan).
1962 Lower California Guidebook:

2003 Baja Almanac:

Note Rancho El Picacho bottom left, which is on the newer route... San Jose Comondu is just off the bottom left side of this map.
2007 AAA:

Rancho El Picacho is on the AAA map.

Thank you all for your quick replies. We are considering going via Poncho Villa, especially after reading Shari's trip report and seeing the beautiful
photos. It's worth the extra time. Hasn't changed much in the last 25 years! Thanks again.
