Glorious Morning ~ 63º but the wind just came up 10 to 15mph. The last 3 days have really been almost summer like. Scattered clouds gave me a really nice sunrise this morning. Friends brought me some supplies from NOB and I'm having some sourdough toast this morning.

Skipjack Joe - 2-17-2011 at 07:31 AM

It's raining all week up here in the bay area. Not a heavy winter rain, though. Intermitently.

Now 35 degrees.

We have had almost 5 feet of snow the last week at the Nevada side of South Tahoe. And we don't get nearly as much as they do on the west side. About a foot & a half this morning. More on the way. The lake may fill up this year!

DENNIS - 2-18-2011 at 04:19 PM

Very gloomy out there. Intermittant chipi-chipi, but the real stuff is on the way.
Hope it doesn't circle around and hit us from the south. That always brings bad-ass wind.

Pompano - 2-18-2011 at 04:26 PM

Tooooo nice here...toss me a lime, would ya?

bajabass - 2-19-2011 at 07:03 AM

That's it! I'm coming home! :O I am currently spending some time up in Shingle Springs, Ca., just outside Sacramento. It has been colder than a brass monkeys huevos since I arrived last Sunday. Well, I woke up at 5 this morning, started the coffee, went out to the garage for a smoke and the first cup, opened the door, and it is snowing out there!!! 1500ft elevation, 31 degrees, the wind finally died. Heading back to Baja tomorrow morning at zero dark thirty!!!

DENNIS - 2-19-2011 at 07:50 AM

Raining....gloomy and cold. Rained and blew to beat all hell throughout the night. I have to go hunt down my patio furniture.

Pompano - 2-19-2011 at 07:53 AM

too damn bright out there to see clearly....will report in later.

bajafreaks - 2-19-2011 at 09:00 AM

We received about 8"-10" of new snow from fridays storm, partly cloudy this a.m. Tahoe has been royally dumped on reports up to 10' of new snow at the mountain tops just in time for the presidents weekend. Excuse me now, I need to go shovel my friggin' driveway

msawin - 2-19-2011 at 09:06 AM

Snow on the ground in Penn Valley, Ca.

Your missing it Tony.

martin-o

astrobaja - 2-19-2011 at 10:59 AM

The snow levels about 300 feet above our place, looks like the park got at least 6 inches of new snow!

Marc - 2-19-2011 at 11:06 AM

San Francisco has been storming and cold. Actually snowing on Mt. Tam and Mt Diablo and Hamilton. My daughter is visiting Univ. Oregon in Eugene and says it snowed yesterday.
I can see why now it's "climate change" and not "global warming".

Spearo - 2-19-2011 at 03:19 PM

Its 35 with no wind in North Idaho. Couple inches of snow on the ground to cover up the mud. My barn yard looks like soup, gotta put on the xtra tuffs to feed stock. I'm watching a bald eagle feed on a road killed deer through a spotting scope and thinking about Baja. And sipping on a Negra Modelo.

BajaGringo - 2-19-2011 at 03:23 PM

We got lots of wind and rain last night out here on the beach west of San Quintin. Today it has been sunny/cloudy off and on with a couple of strong showers in between. The sun is currently trying to break through again and the temperature is 68°F.

mike odell - 2-19-2011 at 04:17 PM

Just back from Guadalajara, Left here was cold and windy, Weather in Guad
was beautiful, Today in La Ribera about 80 and NO Wind!! Perfectamundo!

Pompano - 2-19-2011 at 04:18 PM

Mike...is the La Ribera fishing report as good as that weather report?

p.s. I was in Panama very recently ...fishing and looking around the beach areas. Was over 90 every day with high humidity making it feel like a sauna. Can't say I love the climate, but I do love the fishing.

bajalou - 2-19-2011 at 04:21 PM

Big winds last night/early this AM. Sprinkles of rain is all - looks like the Sierra got some which would be good. Today few clouds, little wind and cool.

Sounds like EarthQuake weather, too me. Hang on!!!! :o

mike odell - 2-19-2011 at 04:45 PM

Roger,
Fishing here right now is flatlined, water has finially calmed but still cold due
to damn wind, but that worm should turn soon. Orcas are still snacking on
rays as of yesterday. At least some critter's are happy!
Road trip down this way in yore plans? I don't have any Red Truck, but might
could wrassle up a decent substitute!

Pompano - 2-19-2011 at 04:51 PM

You bet, Mike. We are thinking of a RV camping trip with the boat down your way, but not until after March 9th. Will bring our own Red Truck and welcome the comparison tastes of the substitute.

Hopefully, the fishing will be outstanding by that time. Hope is a fisherman's best lure.

mike odell - 2-19-2011 at 05:00 PM

Roger,
Maybe by then the antique Confessional that I bought in Guad will
be here and set up, so we can confess our fishing sins!

Pompano - 2-19-2011 at 05:05 PM

hah..we best not tempt any heavenly retaliations in the confessional. I 'think' I am on some kind of parole/probation from the church.

Co-Pilot, on the other hand is in good standing.

Keep us informed on those glowing weather reports.

BajaRat - 2-19-2011 at 05:24 PM

Buenas,
Weather is wet and just shy of snowing. Strong low pressure is moving in with 16 to 18 inches of snow expected over the next 24 hrs. It's making for difficult expedition packing but the trip shall continue.
36 hrs and BSC here we come!
Keep the beers on ice and extra wasabi please!

woody with a view - 2-19-2011 at 05:32 PM

Yeah, Marty.

I escaped just in time. I check in with The Grass Valley Union online and also had this phone message on my laptop from PG&E:
(paraphrasing)- "Sorry for the inconvenience during the power outage. We are working a fast as possible and estimate that power will be restored in your area in two or three days". Wow!
Just before Thanksgiving our power was out for six days. Mucho snow!

And Mulege? Glad you all asked. ;) I went fishing this morning. In the water by six am. Still dark. Big a$$ full moon. Went out to the mine area. Caught two medium Pinto Bass, one Cabrilla. one weird looking red fish with bug eyes, and mucho barracuda. Threw the cuda back.

Paul, a friend whose boat was nearby, caught a big Grouper and two small Yellowtail.

The weather got into the 80s in late morning. No wind. High tide. Water glassy. You would have a hard time getting a day like this in April. The water temp is still cold...61 degrees. When the water warms more there should be more, and larger Yellowtail.

Well...that's my report. I will post some photos sometime soon, if I get around to it.

Pompano - 2-19-2011 at 06:17 PM

Tony...that weird red fish with the bug eyes..could have been a garibaldi.

mike odell - 2-19-2011 at 06:21 PM

Tony,
Did that wierd looking Bug eyed fish have a name?
Sounds like one of my ex wives in a jewelry store!

Barry A. - 2-20-2011 at 09:14 AM

Yep, it's all (snow) around us on 3 sides (we are in the extreme north end of the Central Valley) but it has all melted away here in Redding on the valley floor. 28 degrees at the airport this morning-------32 at our house------all citrus and avocado trees are covered, and the green house is toasty inside (45). Hope everything survives.

In San Diego we are awaiting the COLDEST FEBRUARY DAY IN HISTORY... tomorrow!

The big front is moving in tonight bringing an expected 1 1/3 inch of rain to the coast (Oceanside/ San Diego) and 2 1/4 inches inland (Escondido/ El Cajon)... and a strange cell is going to be right over the county that will cause temps. to drop crazy with a snow level at 1,500' with possible dusts of snow much lower!

This morning it is dark with rain clouds filling the sky.
