Just got back from 5 days in Guerrero Negro with my 92 year old Mum in hospital. Half way through the tedium, in wheels Coco "I heard there were
gringas!" and kept us amused. Next day, walking down the street heard the usual girlie comments that all blondes 16 to, um, 60 get in Mexico. Of
course stuck nose in air and walked on. Next thing I see is a body hanging out of a red truck waving two arms to get my attention. Since he uses

I've ran into many people in remote baja and 'Potting soil"(as well as energy saving 12 volt Fluorescent light bulbs) comes up.
It just reminds me that some times, baja residents need things I take for granted.

His Many Volumes of "Signature Log Books" would tell the story much better than I.
If I was a Publisher...
I would give him what he wanted for his "Logs".
The colorful artwork (including you & your rig) and the Accurate documentation of people in their travels. Many travelers are having the 'time of
their lives' and its captured in these Logs. (Like he said, 'you can read em').
I haven't needed his help, but I've seen him help others in need. For nothing in return.
From what I know, He's funny, friendly, and Authentic.
(and that really stands out from: 'in the middle of nowhere')

Goat you would have to spent some time with him over a period of time to fully understand why many Baja travelers, especially off roaders enjoy Coco.
Here is a an old guy in his 70s with half of both legs cut off living his life the way he wants to. Not in some old age home or in the backyard or
basement of a relative. He is friendly, funny, informative and helpful. He has a wit about him that some find abrasive at times but to those that have
known him for sometime it's a side that many find interesting. I've set and talked to Coco many times over the years for sometimes hours on end. He
will do anything he can to help you if you need help and many of us will do anything we can to help him and I think he knows that and there is this
mutal respects between us. There are not many people in this world like Coco and I will cherish any time I can stop by and have a cold one with him

Several reasons for me.
After a long day on the road...it gets a little monotonous...a stop in the middle of nowhere becomes somewhere cool...Coco's. All his gimmicky junk
hangin in the wind, The pictures on his walls...of history gone pass on that road, his amusing stories and his sorrowed statements .......and a cold
Coke Cola to enjoy this little break from the day's dusty ride.
It's also a good spot if in need of help...always someone coming by from that dusty ol road.
When I am down in the dumps, pressures of business and life....I really do think of Coco's situation(s) at times and the legless guy in the lanes of
outgoing Mexicali border to the USA. Both have no legs, not a hell of a lot of luxury...and what family? He helps me!
For you folks that have never visited Coco....do! When we stop in the see him...we always buy cokes from him. I'll slip him a 20. I'll ask if there
anything he needs....he always is in need of something.

First met him in '93 and when riding up at first thought it must be a mirage in the desert. He is one of those rare people who has created his own

We were down there last summer w/ disabled explorers...prosthetic shop owner with us...made a mold of his legs...to be fitted with new
prothesis..after his revision surgery in Ensenada...gues the hack that took off the 2nd leg messed it up...have not heard anything since..I know we
spent some time wwith him up at Rancho Grande market's patio...listening to his stories..he was hoping to have the revision surgery and the prosthesis
by the 1000 but i am guessing that never happened..
wonder if he ever got the old loogbooks that the dirtbags stole ???
