Pam mentioned that she was working on the video, sometime last week. Likely hasn't got around to it yet, or it didn't pan out.

interesting comment!

the video is worth much to us in the sport fishing industry because of the issue with netting that we have been complaining about for years. it is also of interest to the great whale project that has been seeking funding for years. the solution is that a couple of founders of pixar entertainment will be working on it and when it is ready you will see it. i think these folks will do a much better job on it that i can.

here's something interesting out of Loreto:
if you plan to do any whale watching inside the marine park you must be onboard a boat who has been given authorization by semarnat and the marine park and that displays an official whale watching flag. the same policy that is going on in the lagoons of the pacific is now law outside of Loreto. apparently if boats are caught or denounced whale watching without this flag they will be asked to returned to port and reprimanded. this is not my policy, not my idea and I do not necessarily go along with it because if I didn't receive our flag on monday, i also wouldn't be able to take my children whale watching in our own boat.
outside the park is profepa jurisdiction and requires a vide silvestre permit, boats who do not have this permit are not authorized to whale watch outside the park in Mexican waters. don't shoot the messenger.

there is a humpback reported to have net tangled on its tail if anyone sees this animal the marine park would like to know, call them on channel 16. on thursday when we were watching whales off nopolo there were two nets visible on the surface.

that is interesting. if you own multiple boats, does each boat get licensed? or can one operator/captain have a permit to take from boat to boat? and what about transients, like a sailboat just visiting for the week or month?

i am surprised that the local fishermen don't understand the economic benefits that marine mammals bring to their communities in form of tourism.

there really should be a law requiring fishermen to save waste net and line, perhaps like the beverage container deposits that encourage people to not litter bottles.
to often fishermen throw waste net and line overboard like the rest of their trash.
