A lot of trips between 1976 - 1988 but unfortunately I haven't been
back since. I keep meaning to make a quick run down just to see how much it has changed. I'm sure I wouldn't recognize the place considering all of
the changes that occurred over the dozen years I used to go theredirtydieseldave - 3-3-2011 at 09:58 PM
Good news, Iam going to put one together. the last time I seen that truck was in 68 or 69. Baja was cool back then, and still is. When it is done we
will put you in and put you on the fish. daveDavid K - 3-3-2011 at 10:03 PM

I think I remember the truck, no photos, here is a photos of me on the beach at Ruben's in the early 50's we were camping at Rubens, the only thing
at the beach back then was a little open air palapa bar on the beach, nothing else in the area

now that you bring up the old trucks,, does any one remember the old Lumber hauler that was used to launch boats in downtown San Felipe back in the
50's.'
here is what I am talking about, not the real one ,

I do not have any photos, but in the 70's they used a old
dodge 4x4 power wagon to lunch and bring in boatsdirtydieseldave - 3-4-2011 at 11:46 AM
Hey dick lived long beach and he was 65 years old about 30 years ago. The truck was made of junk but worked like a cat 980 loader. Dick helped Ruben
put it together we never had to pay to launch or stay. The group that we were with down there were all WW2 vets you could count on them better than
yourself. There all gone now I wish they would have instilled their morals in more of us. dave

I've been going to Rubens for 20 yrs. or so,
we called that WWII truck the Beast, it would winch
crafts of many sizes off the beach, while pulling on
a cable anchored in the middle of the Trailer Park.
Was the event of the day. The owner of that truck
lives about 2 1/2 blks towards the lighthouse from
Rubens on the same street, which is named Gulf
of calif. His son runs one of those Banana inflatables
for the tourists. The last time I saw that truck,
it was parked up the hill from Rubens, by the Clinic
on top of the hill in the direction of the Water/ ice Houses.
The owner can be seen in front of Rubens with his
metal detector. I suppose the Launch ramp at the
Harbor put an end to his service
I found an older photo of that truck, a paper photo,
sitting on the beach in
front of Rubens, I'll see if a buddy can get it to show
here, it is beyond my computer skill

Sorta funny thought? The media portrays trailer park folks as redneck, inbred, illiterates. My kinda people!dirtydieseldave - 3-6-2011 at 02:39 PM

I saw a rig just like the one your describing about 15 years ago but it was across the pond in El Golfo. Sorry, no pictures, should've...Pescador - 3-9-2011 at 07:06 AM
Dave, does that mean you are going to provide launch services at Asuncion?bajamedic - 3-10-2011 at 03:52 PM
Is this the type of launch vehicle that you were looking for. I borrowed the photo from John and Rachel Pack. JH BajaWarrior - 3-10-2011 at 05:47 PM
That's the one I saw (or one just like it) in el Golfo years back.
I want one!David K - 3-10-2011 at 06:24 PM
The Palapa Cab on top is real authentic culture in Mexi-motive engineering!dirtydieseldave - 3-10-2011 at 07:30 PM
that's not the one but thanks for the pic, and Jim we are going make it easy for the commercial fishing gringo's to come over here and try to fish it
out. Everybody needs to put 20 or 30 YT on the beach everyday so they can paid for boat gas and beer.shari - 3-14-2011 at 02:40 PM
bajamedic...THAT is way too friggin cool...as the mexicanos say...orale...esta MACHIN!!!! We so gotta build one DD...juan is pretty tired of keepin a
