Anyone looking for a free vacation? (or at least part of it paid for)

Howard - 3-12-2011 at 03:26 PM

I POSTED THIS ON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS WITH NO RESPONSE SO I THOUGHT I WOULD TRY IT ON CLASIFIEDS

I finally bought a 5th wheel trailer and it is now in el Segundo CA, right next to the LAX airport.

I do not have a pick up that would accommodate towing a 34 footer as my Prius just would not work! It is 34 feet with near new tires; a spare and the wheels were recently greased.

I am looking for an honest, no BS person to haul it down to my lot in Loreto. I would meet you there when you arrived. I do not think a ½ ton would work but probably a ¾ ton might be OK. If you are even vaguely interested, let me know and we will try and work something out for your gas, etc.

It is 14,582 lb GVW

Naturally, nothing in life is free, so if you have the truck that would work, let me know and maybe we can work something out.

Would you be able to get it to San Diego County?

Howard - 3-12-2011 at 06:20 PM

Probably not. If I could get it to there, I would just keep on going. I do know someone who could tow it to your place. Please give me a call and we can talk about it.

Gracias,

Howard

I once had to move a trailer across San Diego, but all I had was a small Honda so I paid a tow truck to haul it. Price wasn't all that bad.

free vacation? Are you paying for the gas and the Valium? Towing that thing down Diablo Cayon scares me at just the thought. Seriously, Hope you can find some one with more guts than I. Good luck. I'm a pretty tough woman, but, I really am in awe of you guys that do this kind of stuff,

"La Cuesta de Infierno" (also known as the hill of hell)
is a piece of cake, Debra!!

On our first trip to Loreto trailering our 25 foot Bayliner, we went over the "hill of hell" in the dark, around 2 am. My husband's parents were following us in their Chevy S-10 pick up. We were in our trusty GMC Dually, with an Easy Roller Trailer and one big-ass boat.

When we got to our hotel in Santa Rosalia, Mom said "at certain times, it was like you both fell off the face of the earth in the dark". What knuckleheads we were. We had no idea how dangerous it was to trailer in the dark on a 14% grade!!

I approach it with religious fervor now!

That was back in 1985. First trip down the Baja, and we were still fearless then.

When I saw that hill (and all the crosses on the side of the road) in the daylight I was completely freaked out!! :wow:
