We are driving back to the US in June and we are taking 10 days to 2 weeks to drive the Baja from La Paz to Mexicali.
I know there are many interesting and beautiful places to see in BCS and BC. The places don’t need to be on Highway 1. They can be off road or on
smaller roads.
We have done a search of the site, but my hope is to eventually be able to post a thread that has a lot of info in 1 place.
We would appreciate any “must sees” you can think of (coordinates if you have them). We promise to post a trip report when we get back to the US with
coordinates and photos (if we can figure out how to post photos).
Places to stay and eat would also be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your suggested “must see, eat, and stay”.

Places of every sort, all along the way. Camping, fishing, off road, ancient, natural . . . what's your gig?
La Paz, look around Pescadero & through Todos Santos. Visit Lopez Mateos. Eat at Boratchos passing Lopez (drink at Augies) & more. Look
over Mulege, look over Rosalia. Look at tres Virgines, time in Mulege, etc. etc. Enjoy it.

Take a one mile detour off Mex 1 at San Ignacio, and sit in the plaza and watch the world go by, while sipping a cold Pacifico at Cafe Kadakaaman. If
you enjoy that, spend the night at Juanita's Casa Leree. Nothing like it in all of Baja!

agree with El Cap - Juanita at casa leree has a museum that anyone can go into for free. she has a neat collection of artwork that the locals make ...
and her hotel is just precious - situated in the middle of a great garden with water flowing thu it. great for dipping the feet in when it gets HOT.
eat icecream at the square. the owners used to live in our village
also. way down south there is a town called Santiago. if you take the road to it and then follow the signs to SOL DE MAYO, for 50 pesos, you can take
a 10 min hike down to a waterfall and pool. Take a picnic lunch.
also. after san ignacio, take the exit to punta abreojos (about a half hour north on 1). stop at campo rene for lunch and birdwatching. then
continue to punta abreojos - turn right at calle miguel dominguez and head north ont he saltflats for 10 miles. look for the 2 story white house at
the opposite end of town, or ask for blanca y les. hang out with us for a day or so and have dinner at Joaquin's restaurant. he needs a reservation
- so give us a heads up - eating there is just fantastic. the atmosphere. the food. he is just awesome !!
fill up on gas before leaving san ignacio.
have a wonderful trip !!!!

Great topic! One is the view of L.A.Bay as you are near town up on the ridge. Of course my favorite view is birds crashing on bait fish with huge
boils everywhere. Good luck and have a great trip.

One of the links in my signature is there to help you decide what to see... these are mostly in Baja Norte, and grouped around destinations or towns:

I would suggest San Borja & Montevideo cliff art site, Las Pintas fossil grotto and rock art site, any of the missions you want to get to that are
not on the highway or in a town. El Marmol and El Volcan may be of interest, too.

so sad to see the school falling part tho - in its heyday it was the only school entirely made out of marble.
