Anyone know the name of the new rather large hotel that sits above Mex1 north of San Quentin? It's on the east side of the highway. Could use the name
and/or phone number. Thanks, Jim
Maybe ? ? ?

I'm not sure if this is the one you're looking for Jim ~ but it is the newest, large, very nice and reasonnable place just off Hwy 1 that I've stayed
in there in San Quintin the last few trips when driving down:

That is the one. Anybody remember the name or have a phone number? I am driving north from Mulege on Wednesday and would like to give it a try but
wish to call first. By the way, how was the restaurant? JimBAJA.DESERT.RAT - 3-15-2011 at 03:05 AM
Hola mulegejim,
perhaps this is the info you're looking for. i copied and pasted it to my files a while back from this site to possibly give it a try.
South of Colonet is a new motel called Paraiso Colonet Hotel restaurant & bar opened about seven months ago. Managers name is Ernesto Martinez who
speaks good English.
It is on the East side of the highway, It has a paved entryway off the highway. You can't miss it. It has a North & South wing off the offices
& restaurant & bar. wings are two story. they are nicely furnished. They claim wi fi. When I walked in to check rates, I told Ernesto I was a
member of Vagabundo del Mar & Baja Nomad Forums. And I was able to get a 'preferred' rate which was $500.00 pesos with two people. He wrote down
both names, indicating that he was going to remember that.
So hopefully Vag travelers can get this good rate. Met a couple from Portland, who were eating, and said the food was good. Bar is nothing more than
beverages are available in the restaurant portion. We had an enjoyable 'overnight'. ernesto was most helpful with informaiton. Appeared there was also
a conference room in the reception area.
Phone number: 616 165 73 87: Nacional. 01 800 788 12 09 (ventas@hotelparaisocolonet.com) www.hotelparaisocolonet.com It is a short distance from the highway, but you are still going to be aware of the truckers noise during the night. I
learned years ago. When traveling via motels on Hwy 1 wear earplugs when going to bed!!!!!
if you do stay and/or dine, please post your comments.

My husband and I had lunch there in February and spent quite a bit of time talking to Earnesto. He is pleasant and very fluent in English.
The lunch was good... and they were serving c-cktails, beer and wine, sodas, etc. when we were there.
Beautiful views from the restaurant and lobby and they have a nicely appointed meeting room off the Lobby.
Wireless internet is a big plus!
I know they would appreciate the business.

Thanks Nomads, if I stay there I'll post my thoughts about the operation. Jimyellowklr - 3-15-2011 at 08:01 AM
Yeah I enjoyed the lunch and the waitress and manager were both very nice and fluent.

Update, such as it is - I wanted to stay at the Paraiso Colonet Hotel tonight, Friday March 18, 2011, however, I called to make a reservation in the
morning and they were completely booked by a large group - good thing I called. So there will be no comments from me on the hotel this trip as I am at
the Villas de San Quintin, which had room when I called. Jim
