Are those eggs or gastroliths (stomach grinding stones)?
Cool photos!

ELINVESTIG8R ...where is this area?

How cool, fascinating pics. Wonder what the one with concentric circles is?? Age rings? Fascinating.

Bucket list...see dinosaur bones in the ground.

Udo - 3-15-2011 at 07:39 PM

Are those eggs in BCS?

LancairDriver - 3-16-2011 at 08:49 AM

David- Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I hope the location is remote and stays unknown to "collectors" who could wipe it out in no time.

Geo_Skip - 3-17-2011 at 01:29 AM

Are you really sure those are "Fossils"? As a geologist I am skeptical!

Interesting formations, but definitely ATYPICAL of "Fossil" deposits!

Sorry to rain on your parade, but I too don't think those are fossils - and definitely not dino eggs. I have seen similar features in other marine terraces in central Baja. I was told they are likely castings (casings?) or burrows of marine bivalves - that would explain the long cylindrical shapes. Look around that area and you will probably find fossilized seashells I bet. I'll try and post a few pics of mine later which show very similar shapes.

I am told there is a fossilized teradactyl on a cliff that was found by a cowboy while out gathering up his cows. It is some distance away from the site I was at. On my next visit are going to look for it.

For those who do not believe them to be fossilized dinosaur eggs it’s ok.

They have the same shape as the 'spirit globes' in your night photographs at El Metate.

Dinosaur bone:

A lambeosaurus femur to be precise.

ELINVESTIG8R - 3-17-2011 at 09:38 PM
