Russ...u going to some photos of this for us? It must be great to witness this down by your place.

Russ - 3-18-2011 at 05:41 PM

I'm gonna try. 3xken gave me some pointers and I have the tripod set. Well can only hope for some OK.

krafty - 3-18-2011 at 05:41 PM

Thanks for posting-will be watching!

Russ - 3-18-2011 at 07:34 PM

Not doing well with camera settings. Can't remember anything ken told me:fire:
Out of 80 shots here the only one I saved.

Sallysouth - 3-18-2011 at 09:42 PM

"They" said it was tomorrow, the biggest, that is.

Paulina - 3-18-2011 at 09:57 PM

Wow Russ!

I am looking forward to tomorrow night's fotos. It is raining up here big time so we are going to have to look to you for our full moon fix.

The moon rising over La Paz was gorgeous last night! Weather is warming up as well. Maybe the fish will take the hint!

Iflyfish - 3-19-2011 at 07:41 AM

Great shot Russ. You got the cheese.

Frank - 3-19-2011 at 07:54 AM

Doesnt look like you needed any help Russ. Looks great.

DENNIS - 3-19-2011 at 07:56 AM

It looks like a melon. :light:

Tano - 3-19-2011 at 08:16 AM

Did anybody notice that the moon is actually "mooning" us?

tripledigitken - 3-19-2011 at 08:19 AM

Russ,

You got a great shot. One out of 80 is a good success rate!

That's the best part of digital, shoot away.

Well if you miss it tonight, there will be next month, maybe 2% smaller.
Remember that email that was going around saying Mars would look as big as the moon for ONE night only? And some people actually believed it!!!!

I see the Moon. The Moon sees me ?

MrBillM - 3-19-2011 at 04:33 PM

I like looking at the Full-Moon as much as anybody, But this is one of those "Don't Miss" events that, if you'd missed it, you wouldn't miss it.

IF nobody had been told that it was the BIGGEST, they wouldn't have known.

BajaBlanca - 3-19-2011 at 04:38 PM

very nice shot, Russ !

Russ - 3-19-2011 at 08:26 PM

Nice shot. It looks good from here too. Love the detal on the surface,

mcfez - 3-19-2011 at 09:14 PM

Russ...third pic down.....oh yeah!

Well....I can see a moon tonight. In fact I cant see the stars. We are in the middle of the worst storm of the year. Wind is cranking out 40 MPH and rain coming in buckets.

Looks like mitosis - telophase

Skipjack Joe - 3-19-2011 at 10:24 PM

Actually, not really ...

What it really looks like is best left unsaid.

Let's just say there isn't a bra big enough.

okay, okay, I'm leaving ...

Great Photos.

Of course, ANY previous photos would have worked and nobody would know the difference.

In a perfect example of "Great Expectations", after the buildup my wife was out in the front yard awaiting the rise.

After which, she said "It doesn't look any different. I thought it was supposed to be bigger".

A typical complaint from a Woman.

wessongroup - 3-20-2011 at 01:08 PM

Hey, Russ... thanks for staying up past my bed time... this old guy has a hard time making to "stars out".... anymore...

Plus all your efforts to catch that "shot"....

Great watching you experiment with the unit... and what you get...

Thanks again...

astrobaja - 3-23-2011 at 02:12 PM

Russ,

Really nice pics!! A lotta hype about this one, like the perigee/apogee pic shows the difference is a few arcminutes, hardly something an unaided eye can differentiate! But it resulted in a LOT of cool pics being taken!

Heres 2 from the "Lunar pic of the day" site hosted by Charles Wood the NASA Selenographer
