Hi Bug,
I hiked a couple miles up the canyon from the desert a few years ago. A Baja Nomad named 'Burro Bob' lived at the ranch at the entrance... He hasn't
posted here since 2007...
He had told me about hiking up to the top of the sierra. It was a primary mission and Indian trail from San Pedro Martir mission to San Felipe.

From talking with locals who have made the trip to the top, I've been told that the only tail has been washed out by one of the hurricanes that came
through here. They hiked to the top using burros to carry their supplies - a 2-3 day trip.
