Bancomer closure

elfbrewery - 3-19-2011 at 04:57 PM

Someone told me that as of Wednesday, 23 March, Bancomer (in all of Mexico) will be closed. Is this Benito Juarez's birthday bank holiday, or is there a permanent closure of banks? It's all a muddle. Rumours do abound!

DENNIS - 3-19-2011 at 05:01 PM

Monday is Benny's birthday.

Yup, that's true. Normally bank holidays are on Monday, also. However, because there are lots of tourists this time of year, sometimes the bank is closed on another day. Does anyone know?

The Gull - 3-19-2011 at 05:12 PM

The closure of Bancomer is just the leading edge problem. The Mexican Peso and the Japanese Yen are no longer traded on the world market. Take all your money out of every bank. The only trusted currencies are Turkish Lira, Iran Dinars, Thai Baht and the Croatian Kuna.

Benito was the very first native Indian to be Mexican president.

On the citizenship test he is the answer to the question, WHO SAID THIS:

"Entre los individuos como entre las naciones, el repeto al derecho ajeno es la paz."

or = Amongst individuals as well as amongst nations, respect for thy neighbor means peace.

The US just dropped $250M of missiles on Gadaffi.

WASHINGTON – U.S. and British ships and submarines launched the first phase of a missile assault on Libyan air defenses, firing 112 Tomahawk cruise missiles Saturday at more than 20 coastal targets to clear the way for air patrols to ground Libya's air force.

Warning: the Libyan Dinar is not worth holding.

Last time we did that, we killed his little girl. That was very uncool.

If I had a supply of food etc. at a crisis time, I wouldn't trade for Krugerrands of other pieces of gold - If they're so good, you eat them. Now powder and lead and bullet molds, that's another story. :saint:

elfbrewery - 3-19-2011 at 05:51 PM

Okay, okay. I guess no one really knows. I'll just have to ask locally.
Thanks for the entertainment.

I find it easier to just stock up on ready made ammunition. Thank goodness I don't live in the People's Republic of Kalifornia any more.

Bank holiday for BJ's birthday is Monday.
Bancomer is not closing permanently... this week.

Yep....I think it was Benny and Vince.
--------------

"Vicente Guerrero has been a towering figure in the Americas, masterfully commanding Mexico's liberation army during much of its independence movement, and later assuming his country's presidency where he again fought off foreign invaders. Born poor to a Black Indian family and growing up without formal schooling, he taught himself to read and write as he trained his troops in the Sierra Madre mountains. He was able to help write Mexico's constitution, free its slaves, take steps to educate and elevate its poor and people of color, and serve as his country's first president of African and Native American descent."

So do you have some inside information on which week it will be? Just curious - so we can all withdraw our money the week before...

BajaBlanca - 3-20-2011 at 05:32 PM

so Bancomer is closed tomorrow, Monday, and open on Wednesday, correct ? We need to open another bank account this week.

:?: $250M for 112 Tomahawks = $2.2M each but Raytheon's current contract is for $346M to produce 473 Tomahawks which = $731.5K each and which now includes the warhead (formerly GFE) produced at their Camden, AK facility

That is the unit cost, but not what Raytheon gets paid to produce them. There are program costs, logistics costs, plenty of blah, blah, blah. But yes, let's round up for those items to $1M per round.

What do you think the cost to fly two B-2's and a bombay full of the precision guided calling cards cost the US taxpayer?

monoloco - 3-21-2011 at 08:44 PM

Using up all that hardware is just more corporate welfare/defense contractor stimulus, now it all has to be replaced. Buy Raytheon!

Wow...

I'm nominating this thread for most likely to succeed . . .

(in veering waaaaaaaaaay off topic).

Phil S - 3-22-2011 at 10:45 AM

Marc. AR15?????????????????/ If I bring another 500 rounds, can I be your new neighbor??????

tripledigitken - 3-22-2011 at 10:50 AM

At today's gold price you need an AR15 to protect that bowl full!

elfbrewery - 3-23-2011 at 12:45 PM

Can't find the Gringo who can't read. The bank was probably closed Monday, not Wednesday, making it a bank holiday only. Sorry for the bother (but you guys had fun anyway).
