I drove Yuma to Modesto on the 3rd to PU my Plane in KMOD. No problems, took I-10 to I-210 during off hours then I-5 to 99 . Smooth sailing 9 hours -30 minutes.

Leaving tomorrow but going by way of Bakersfield to Mojave and down into Indio. I hate the Grapevine. Nancy

That is also a good way to miss the nightmare of Los Angeles traffic!

Freeway much faster --

I have gone thru Palmdale , ETC. for years----- also tried 395--

I saved an hour in time by driving thru the LA traffic just before noon.

If I can get to the I-5 and the 118 by noon I'll go thru LA on I-5 if not I go thru Mojave, Palmdale and 138. I usually always come back thru Palmdale from the 138.

About how much time does Palmdale save ...leaving here in two hours. BTW all...thanks for the updates.

If I'm going to San Diego a clear run down I-5 takes about 4 to 4.5 hours Depending on how fast the traffic is running. If there are slow downs in LA add 1, 2 or 3 hours. Going thru Palmdale I take 138 to I-15 to I-415 and take it to the 210 to I-10 then 86 for El Centro or Mexicali. Otherwise I take the I-415 thru San Bernardino/Riverside and meet the I-15 again to San Diego. It's a 5 hour drive to San Diego this way, sometimes a tad more. But much more relaxed. They have the interchange at the 415/60 fixed so going or coming is quick and easy. It only took them 40 years to do it. On the 138 most drivers hum along at 60+, but watch for cops if going over 65, usually the one in the sky during the day and on the ground at night.

I'll add that I often stop at the Chaparral motorcycle shop at Mill St in San Bernardino. Big place easy to get to and has lots of goodies.

I got stuck in the LA traffic last week coming back home, thank heavens for wide mouth gatorade bottles and the fact that I am male. I had to go so bad that after awhile I could care less who was looking. At first I was trying to sneak a pee, but after awhile I didn't give a crap who saw.

and I5 was the same as it ever was, no issues to report. I drove it from NW WA to the border last week, and from the border to the cape. long drive but it sure beats los cabos to Soldotna, AK... 10days in a truck just plain sucks.
