Has anyone made their way through Insurgentes on their way to San Juanico? I have heard that the cops are doing unnecessary traffic stops and
fines...anyone experience this?dtbushpilot - 3-26-2011 at 09:48 PM
Don't worry about it, just drive the speed limit and you will be fine.
FYI: I drive well over the speed limit everywhere I go day in and day out all over the Baja peninsula and have only been pulled over a couple of times
in 15 years.......just not a big deal.....dtBigWooo - 3-27-2011 at 05:57 AM
There are off and on traffic stops in both Insurgentes and Zaragoza (the next town North). Never know if you're going to run into them. Can be a
pain.
As long as you have everything in order: Insurance, registration, seat belt, current tags, not speeding, etc. etc., it's usually not a problem, just
time consuming. Give them an excuse though, and you'll get the bite. Either way you'll probably loose 50 pesos for a "soda".Bob and Susan - 3-27-2011 at 07:34 AM

I heard stories after the Baja 1000 race that some pre-runners had been stopped in Insurgentes for speeding and paid a fine to the cop. They claimed
they were not speeding but who knows maybe they confused KPH with MPH. Maybe the cop knowing they were pre-running and had money and might be in a
hurry to get somewhere or meet someone and he made a little extra money. I pre-ran from San Ignacio to La Paz and never had any trouble going or
coming. Even stayed overnight in Constitucion where several people had problems with the police, and again no problem.woody with a view - 3-27-2011 at 12:56 PM

I drove through a couple of days ago. Saw no cops until just on the north side of Zaragosa. Asked for my drivers license and when that was in order
just asked for gas money.Bajahowodd - 3-27-2011 at 04:32 PM
Does this mean that just when this same issue in Cd. Constitucion has seemingly abated, that it just migrated slightly North?Bajatripper - 3-27-2011 at 05:03 PM
Just through there last weekend, no problems.proneman - 3-28-2011 at 11:14 AM
I have been hit up a few times there in the last 4 or 5 months.....
Do you really think they are raising $ for gas......? Now I ask THEM for gas money! I wonder what they think of naive Gringos and what they say when
you drive away thinking how generous you are.
