227 million pesos for construction of the road leading to Punta Fisher Field

La Paz, Baja California Sur .- As part of his working trip to the north of the state, Gov. Narciso Agundez Montano delivered the construction of the roads leading to Punta Fisher Field and Vizcaíno Abreojos Bahia Asuncion, projects involving a total investment of 227 million pesos, and respond to approaches by the aged people in fishing communities in the North Pacific area, in the town of Mulege.

On that note, there has been a large Fisher family in the Cabo area, and beyond, for a very long time.

I'm guessing they mean Laguna San Ignacio - there is the famous Fisher family from San Ignacio?? The article refers to the northern region of BCS, and mentions Punta Abreojos and Asuncion (which are already paved). The road out to the Laguna which is currently being paved (slowly) now, and rumor has it that it will someday continue south down to San Juanico. If this ever does happen - will really alter the transportation options (for both travelers & cargo) through Sta. Rosalia/Mulege/Loreto corridor, as it would likely be a shorter route down the west coast. Time will tell.

The paved road from San Ignacio to La Purisima was proposed back in 1973... it cuts 100 miles off the drive to La Paz and eliminates two big mountain grades to climb/ descend... The heads of all the towns (Santa Rosalia, Mulege, Loreto) that would lose customers and income, made a fuss!

When Hwy. 5 is finished to Laguna Chapala, that will cut close to 200 miles of driving from mainland Mexico to La Paz. They will need to build a new highway from San Felipe to Puertecitos that can deal with high speed and volume, and it is planned to run inland, as the original road to Puertecitos did before 1982.

'Field' translates to Campo... and the junction of the Punta Abreojos highway with Mex. 1 is at Rancho (Campo) Fisher (on Mexican topo map)

Seems they are talking about the two paved roads being completed

1) Campo Fisher to Punta Abreojos and
2) Vizcaino to Bahia Asuncion.
