Spring Has Sprung in Rosarito

Gypsy Jan - 4-2-2011 at 07:09 PM

Today in town, despite the overcast and cold wind coming from the ocean, the street going down to beach and discos, past El Nido Restaurant on the right was full of vehicles and casual pedestrians in various kinds of vacation attire.

The sidewalks were full of "Marias" (indigenous people bussed in by ?) selling their wares.

The collection of vendor stalls near the Festival Plaza Hotel was full of shoppers, including several American military personnel.

The very ample parking lot at the Ortega's Buffet in central Rosarito was full and all adjacent street parking was taken up.

Yes, Jan, pretty snarky out today-this is good news, and the news about military personnel is interesting, as they have all been told not to come to these thar parts-how did you know they were military:?:
I have seen a slight shift with family and friends-they are starting to return. Now, if only the weather would cooperate.

The Seals Were Negotiating

To buy six or eight nunchuks.

My husband came up behind them with his service dog and advised them to put them out of sight because his dog might think that they were threatening him.

After some friendly macho conversation, they ended up giving him one of the nunchuks, saying that they are legal in Mexico.

And, yes, we were wondering about their vacation visit to Baja, but, of course, if you are a Seal, you are bullet proof, yes?

I only know of one "Maria" selling jewelry, etc. She pops up at every resturant we go to, sometimes two or three days in a row!

not bulletproof. but with a group of them i know a bullet would just pee them off. and being tougher than nails, each would have to outdo his buddy in how peeed they got.

Edit: looky, the censor missed.....

It's hard to visualize trained [or, even in training] Navy Seals in Mexico, advertising their military status and buying Ninja weapons, but....I wasn't there.

Your weren't there.

And they were in civilian attire. The details came out in the conversation struck up about the dog and in the exchange of what husband used do in the military.

I can send you our set of nunchuks if you want to inspect them.

WHOOOPS....Hope you didn't think I was questiong you, Jan. I wasn't. It just didn't fit my preconceived notion of our sophisticated warriors......even that they would be there at all. I guess they don't read the news.

I know what nunchucks are.
