I should know the answer but I never pay attention.
Travel time from the SY border to San Ignacio? I'm pulling a small boat.

Also where is a good cheap place to stay in Ignacio?

You have it backwards, to get to San Ignacio you time travel.

Without boat I make it around 9 hours. Food/ drink in the car, bano at the gas stations. Figure 10 hours or so. I've stayed a few times at the Rice and Beans when I get in late. Think it was like $40 or so. Ask for one of the newer rooms next to the restaurant.

hi Derek - we think you should do it in 2 days ... I imagine it would take you 12 hours with a boat !!! minimum .....

Rice and beans is good and the restaurant is reasonable.

I remember us time traveling all together, on time, in time to see St. Ignacio in the all together. :o The Emperor, altogether defrocked, standing in the all together in San Ignacio Plaza was shocked as he witnessed the formation of The Jesuit Order.

Adding a towed boat will add a couple hours to play it safe... at least 12 hours for the 533 mile drive from the border... with stops for fuel, military inspection, etc.

stay at ignacio springs bed and breakfast in their yurts. the free breakfast is/was the best in baja.

BTW, how small of a boat?

if you are looking for real cheap in San Ignacio...we always stay at La Posada for 300 pesos...2 beds, hot water, not fancy but just fine and very quiet as it is in the back of town...go straight past the Mission and turn left at the first street and go a couple blocks...hotel is on the right side and the owner shows up when you pull in...it used to have internet too so ask about that if ya want it.
Also, the taco stand at the entrance to the square is excellent in the evenings...have a safe trip amigo.

Boat is only 17ft.......Our final destination in Mulege, I'd just want to be close for the next morning.....I guess if we are tired well just stop at GN.

Ditto: La Posada. It's cheap, clean and it has hot water. There is a place off of the square that has cheap rooms with no hot water, I've never stayed there though.

we have stayed at La Posada towing our Whaler...the parking lot is small but people are accomodating...another option is Hotel Olivia across from the Pemex in Vizcaino...gets ya a bit further down the road...huge parking lot and cheap, really nice rooms.

Ignacio Springs.....Gary and Terry are awesome as is their hospitality. They have a huge lot across for your boat.....

How wide is the boat, on the trailer at the widest? Remember that this is a very narrow road...if it is a wide load it will be a slow, scary drive...but doable...just bring a spare set of underwear

Vizcaino is a clean on the way stop IMO.

Yeah i like the Idea of Vizcaino.....
I'll be in Mulege,Chivato,and San Bruno but not making the Pacific this time.

At 17', after Ensenada you won't even realize the boat is there. I hauled a 25' to Guerrero Negro in about 12 hours.

I had a underpowered 1500 Dodge. We averaged 45-50 mph.

Was going over my notes, and last time to San Ignacio was 10.5 hours from the border, including stops... BUT, we were not towing and I don't do the 80 KPH max. legal speed!
