Shortly after crossing the TJ border there is a overpass exiting on the right that takes you to the toll road south leading you to Rosarito. Three
years ago when doing the same drive I was about to take the same overpass exit on the right and there was a huge concrete block completely blocking
the entrance onto the overpass. It looked pretty permanent....needless to say....sorry to say it ended taking me an hour or so to find the road outta
town. I'm hoping the nomads can tell me if that main on-ramp is still closed.....appreciate an update on getting through TJ.

there is one little detour on the via rapida heading south in TJ because of repaving. I suspect they will pick up the pace on the project and get it
finished for the Easter holiday. As you go up the first hill towards playas you have to take the left under the road. It one-way for now so people
make two lanes up the hill through a neighborhood and dumps you onto the main road heading the correct direction- towards Playas.
Maybe another Nomad who passes here this weekend can let us know when the via rapida south is open again. I last passed through there on Tuesday.dtbushpilot - 4-8-2011 at 09:50 PM
On a recent trip South I missed the turn off and ended up driving around in town. In years past I would have been freaked out but I just went with it
and tried to head back toward where I thought I needed to be. Soon enough I found my way back to the toll road, it wasn't a big deal at all....because
I didn't make it one. An inconvinence? You bet, a narco bullet in the head?....not so much.
One time not long ago I made my way to the border crossing headed North and there were cops blocking the ramp to the SY crossing. Apparently the
crossing was so backed up that the solution was to block the onramp and tell everyone to go to Otay.....but I didn't know how to get there and they
weren't passing out GPS maps, just pointing down the road. We went the wrong way....more than once or twice but eventually we ended up in the right
place.

As mentioned there is a small detour now but the biggest surprise is that the detour IS well signed so you can easily follow it...lord knows this is

From personal experience I have found when making the wrong turn ask the Federalies with the AK47 if you can make an illegal turn to get back on

No matter where you cross, I always have seen an incredible amount of signage directing you...
If the access to the border fence road leading west to the toll road was blocked... and there were no signs, then just continue west, parallel to the
border road through town... and you end up in the same place. That is actually the main route of Mex. 1-D.
As for Otay to the Blvd (Corredor) 2000 route...
Follow signs for Tecate Cuota (toll) 2-D for first 6 miles... then signs for Rosarito, Popotla, Ensenada.

When you clear Mexican Customs/Immigration, proceed 1 mile, then make a left turn at Industrial Blvd (1st stoplight intersection.....tire shop on your
left).
Proceed 5 miles on Industrial then follow the road as it curves to the right onto Blvd 2000 - Corridor 2000 - BC 201. If you go straight, the road
curves to the left and you will be at the Tecate toll road fee booth.
26 miles on Blvd 2000 and you will be at the free road in Popotla.
