Whatever the source of that was, many of those prices are totally wrong.
Here's a real survey of March 2011 European prices, in Euros per litre:
http://www.aaireland.ie/AA/Motoring-advice/Petrol-Prices.asp...
To convert litres to (US) gallons, multiply by 3.785. To convert Euros to US$, multiply by 1.44. So to convert Euros/Litre to Dollars/Gallon,
multiply by (3.785*1.44) = 5.45.
Norway is really $9.84/gallon (not $6.82). Italy $8.34 (not $5.80). Etc. Big difference. Looks like a bunch of old prices on that list, although a
few (like Canada, which seems about right) may have been added recently.
Sydney AUS: http://www.mynrma.com.au/motoring/car-care/fuel-prices.htm
(1.49 AUD/liter which works out at $5.90 a gallon, not $3.42).
$4/gallon is still a bargain (too cheap, it just encourages waste).
