At some time in the future, Palm Springs, Calexico, Mexicali, the Salton Sea and the Coachella Valley will all disappear, being swallowed up by the
Sea of Cortez as the Baja Peninsula rips further away from the mainland along the San Andreas fault. Note how the blue Sea of Cortez migrates
northward merging with the Salton Sea and the south side of the fault (Baja & San Diego) crashes into the Los Angeles basin as it twists and
contorts along the fault zone. The "past" geologic animation is near the beginning of the movie; the "future" geologic animation is near the end.
