Mary Ann Humfreville stopped by today...

David K - 4-14-2011 at 11:48 AM

Mary Ann and a friend who also lives in Baja, stopped by today on their way back to Bahia de los Angeles.

We had a chance to catch up on family events and Baja stuff as well as her picking up some cases of Mike's books that were published by Sunbelt, I have here now.

Anyway, Mary Ann is looking good and enjoying life in Baja... She does pop onto Nomad once in awhile, but I couldn't convince her to give us regular posts from the shore of L.A. Bay... I did try!

Mike Humfreville's book about their Baja travels and specially living on the Sea of Cortez in 1973 and again with their boys in 1985 are detailed with great stories of a true life adventure... published in 2006, just months before Mike passed away.

The book is one that would be enjoyed by every Baja fan... Details on getting your own copy will be posted in the classified section here on Nomad.

Yes, indeed!

His stories are all saved over on Fred Metcalf's site in the page 'Baja with Mike'. I posted one the other day about his trip to the mine between Punta Final and Calamajue mission, here on Nomad.

I am considering posting them every week or so here on Nomad for the folks who are new or haven't read his stories, along with an invite to get a copy of his book... I rescued a lot of them from the publisher, which discontinued them.

Hi MaryAnn... it's great to hear that you are loving your time in Baja and that you are doing well!!

Any of us who ever met you and Mike will never forget you. And, as others have said, missing Mike's short stories he would post from time to time. Man, he had a way with words!

PS: Thanks, David!

De nada Bob...

I asked if Mary Ann would give a case to Baja Cactus... Mike would like it that more Baja travelers could enjoy his work, after-all. So, the #1 motel in Baja would be a good way to accomplish that!

An update: Antonio at Baja Cactus today said that Mary Ann dropped off a case of Mike's books there... and now every room at Baja Cactus has a copy (for now) of Mike's book for your reading pleasure! :light:

Hi Marv, she would have gotten in today (overnighted in San Quintin)... She does get Internet, email, etc. but limits her time to conserve solar power/ battery use. Says she looks at Nomad once in awhile... but I couldn't get her to do a weekly post from Bahia... How about you?

Anyway, if you know where her home is, maybe pop by as she may not ever see this thread...? u2u me if you need directions.

She made it in here yesterday safe and sound around noon or so.
