I was there in mid-February. The change of ownership had recently happened (very shortly before our trip).
I've read here about the remodel but did not observe it. The place was fine then; typical La Pinta / Desert Inn. We had a great time.
The new manager is Marcial. He's very personable and speaks some English. I have the following phone numbers:
200-124-9122 (hotel general?), and
200-124-9123 (his direct line)
I hope I got those right.

Nappo - welcome to BajaNOmads and I agree with 805gregg - G Negro makes more sense than Catavina ... great hotels, good food, gas, banks etc.

Sure works for me. The entire peninsula is such a diverse collection of microclimates and that one's compelling (for me anywho).

I just stayed overnight in Catavina last week; they're working on a new covered entrance (it's small) and they're doing major work on the pool area;
looks like they're building some kind of rock waterfall, but hard to tell. The pools did have water in them but with other work going on you wouldn't
want to use them; they start working at 7:00 am and work until 8:00 pm and the jackhammers echoed into the room during the work (although if you're
just there for the night, shouldn't cause a problem since you're probably up by 7:00 anyway). They have WiFi in the lobby area, too. Rooms were just
as usual; rate was high ($80/night) but I like waking up to the sun versus the fog in El Rosario or Guererro Negro. Restaurant & bar are the

Left San Diego at 7:30 and checked in at GN by 4:30 in the Afternoon, at the Malarrimo, it's an easy drive.
