am headed back to Loreto from Phoenix, trying the bus from to Guaymas/Aerocalafia route this time. anyone have a recommendation on where to stay in
Guaymas (preferrably) or San Carlos for a night or two? will I have the same Semana Santa no-room-in-the-inn issues that I might run into in Baja?Marc - 4-16-2011 at 03:05 PM
In San Carlos Totonaka worked for us. Cheap & clean. absinvestor - 4-16-2011 at 03:34 PM
I have a friend that lives in San Carlos. He owns a small rv park and I believe he has some rooms he rents. His email is georgeinsancarlos@gmail.com.
He should be able to suggest some options. Good luck. Ronrhintransit - 4-16-2011 at 06:03 PM

thank you, Ron, I just emailed him.
anyone else with recommendations in case the ones above don't work?Hook - 4-16-2011 at 09:15 PM
George has openings, I believe. I'll check for you, if he doesnt respond quickly. I lived there for a year while my place was being built. Rode out
Huracan Jimena there. I dont think ANYONE is there right now (meaning tenants).
It is a level, 15-20 minute walk from George's to the main boulevard in town, if you are without a car. Or, if town is important to you. It's in a
rural area, about a mile from the water. Much quieter than in town ESPECIALLY THIS WEEK.

Best Western Hacienda Tetakawa is a back-up if you can't get into George's. It is outside SC proper on the beach road to Guaymas. Rooms were around
$65 US a couple of years ago.Hook - 4-17-2011 at 06:53 AM
The main complaint I would have about Totonaka and Tetakawi (they are right next to each other) is that they are along a stretch of cobblestone road
and the noise of the tires gets pretty bad. This is along the main road; virtually all traffic in San Carlos must go past these locations. And there
WILL be traffic this week.rhintransit - 4-17-2011 at 07:54 AM
George, absinvestor's friend, did respond promptly to my inquiry, sounds like a nice guy and place, but rents by the week or more and feels the
distance from the highway...without a car...won't work.
the Armida is full, Best Western Tetakawi is full. I've emailed Totonaka to inquire.
I just need a place to sleep for a night or two before getting to the airport to catch the 7:30am plane to Loreto...so can cope with noise. thanks
for suggestions.

rhintransit.....
Did you try the Motel Creston? It's on the main bouleverd right in the center of San Carlos.
They have clean, inexpensive rooms and are located conveniently close to bus stops and stores.
I stayed there as a single woman travelling alone and was safe.
Phone 622-226-0020.
I don't know if the Spanish family still owns it, but they had a wonderful little restaurant, great shrimp and fish dishes, and they were the most
charming folks.bill erhardt - 4-17-2011 at 08:55 AM
Hotel Playa de Cortes is a little off the beaten track in Guaymas, not San Carlos, and more of an older, Mexican hotel than others like the Hacienda
Tetakawi, but I like it as much, if not more. It has big rooms, many with windows/balconies overlooking the bay and on west to San Carlos, and a nice
old Mexico feel. No noise here...... http://www.bestday.com.mx/Guaymas-San-Carlos/Hoteles/Playa-d...
