bajafam - 4-19-2011 at 08:13 AM

We did Requeson just before Semana Santa last year...drove past during Semana Santa and WOW! There were a TON of campers there :) Good times had by all!

Lindalou - 4-19-2011 at 11:33 AM

Thanks Roger:)

Puckdrop - 4-19-2011 at 02:04 PM

Was there in March. Can't wait to go back this May.
I hope my snorkel gear is still there:spingrin:

I can remember I and my brothers first experience of 'Easter Week' on Juncalito Beach. We in 'big' travel trailers, and campers with their tents, tarps, cars, trucks, parked in front of us ON the beach. Music. Ton's of kids. Noise. Ton's of kids, Noise, and continual traffic of human bodies walking into the bushes day & night for you know what.!!! It was an experience of a life time. And we melted right into it.
But. Was glad when Monday came, and they were pretty much gone from the beach. Took all of us 'campers' two days to get the beach cleaned up.

Why is it they completely trash their own beaches and just drive away? Is it because they only do it once a year? We pulled into Juncalito on the Monday after a couple of years back after a Semana Santa and were completely blown away by the piles of trash and empty glass bottles on the beach. The flies were loving it. How nice.

Phil S - 4-21-2011 at 11:19 AM

Roger. Got any "mid week" pictures of the beaches???? Keep up the good photography. Miss those beaches. Lots of memories of Requison (sp?) back in the early 90's

LancairDriver - 4-21-2011 at 12:16 PM

Some friends of ours had campers set up UNDER their 5th wheel trailer last year. Complete with campfire.

norte - 4-21-2011 at 12:42 PM

kinda like Spring break in Palm Springs of old, or Florida, New Orleans, etc Except without the naked people or drug overdoses.....

desertcpl - 4-21-2011 at 01:10 PM

The percentage of ones worth looking at is low until Friday and Saturday. That's when the talent comes out. Right now it's just the families with the younger kids setting up.

Well, at least that's the way it is over here, since we have proximity to some larger cities like Hermosillo, Guaymas and Ciudad Obregon. We get some extraordinary talent.

Bump...

Pompano - 4-23-2011 at 07:29 AM

See the first post for latest updates of 'The Beaches of Easter',

The entire Coyote Bay area s not too crowed this year at all..and, so far, very quiet at night. Hey...I'm not complaining!

David K - 4-23-2011 at 07:36 AM

Thanks Roger... Great Job showing the view of the campos.

BajaBlanca - 4-23-2011 at 06:01 PM

I can't believe how EMPTY those beaches are ... 3 years ago when we made the mistake of driving around on semana santa, you could not see the sand for all the tents !! I was just astounded ...

this year looks pretty mild ....

tiotomasbcs - 4-23-2011 at 06:18 PM

Bikinis? I wish! Down here we get Levi cutoffs and Tshirts(with undergarment?!! If we're lucky some La Paz Debutantes might show and spice it up! Cerritos Beach would be the Best Bet but I'm hangin low?! Tio

Roger, thanks for the updates! Bob H

Some Easter Beach Updates

Pompano - 4-24-2011 at 09:39 AM

This is the pretty little ‘annex’ beach next to the Santispac Lagoon.

Note: I would not recommend the ‘hot springs’ during Eastertime….or any other time!
.

South Coyote Beach has the Tecate balloon…plus a volleyball court. (it's been a couple years since I used to jump higher than the net...or seen daylight under my feet..)

Bertha's Beach Club Cafe. Almost empty at the moment. Fact is, not many of the Easter crowd spend a lot of money in the beach cafes. Not so odd, as most all campers are usually well-stocked with their own off-sale and food. My own is well-stocked with survival items.

South Coyote Beach Road gets frequent marine visits..and some traffic control thanks to the Mulege Police Dept.

Hey!..what’s that in the water??!

Damn...how the heck do you operate the ZOOM on this thing...??

AHA! Got It!

(imagine we are on a wartime submarine and we hear this sound)

Whoo-oop!-Whoo-op!-Whoo-op! BIKINI ALERT! – BIKINI ALERT!

Well Helloooo there….Yoo- hoooooooooo!!
Hey, a guy can look…right?

"Hola senorita! Listen carefully!!

Stay right where you are...you are in shark-infested waters!

I'll be right there to help you to safety...you little fox!"

This scene looks vaguely familiar??

.

The photos shown below are from Burros boat anchorage and are titled:

HOW NOT TO OPERATE A MOTORBOAT IN AN ANCHORAGE.

Are we agreed that this boat operator is an idiot? Lots of swimmers in this area, not to mention the careless close approach to boats on the hook.

Ah, well...it's Easter Madness Time, after all....

s
On a Jeep ride to the south end, I had to stop at this famous watering hole…Mark and Olivia’s Buenaventura Café.

"Whoa! Co-pilot, QUICK!...get out there and see if his tail is wagging! Trust me, it's important!"

HAPPY EASTER MARK & SIDEKICK (hmm...is that bird's tail wagging?)

.
.
Heading south from Mark & Olivia's we come upon....

Playa Requeson…another favorite camping beach....WITH CLAMS!..and 'unique camping options'...

.
.
..and just south of Requeson is Perla and a couple nice EMPTY campsites..

Muy tranquilo..and waiting for you.

..and that's the end of this beach report...till next time, adios.

David K - 4-24-2011 at 09:56 AM

Thanks Roger!!! Mark looks well... I hope they do well this Easter!

acadist - 4-24-2011 at 04:21 PM

Can't wait tp see all those beaches again....next weekend;D

Thanks Roger... looks like someone picked up most of the trash?

Yup

Pompano - 4-26-2011 at 08:58 AM

David K - 4-26-2011 at 09:08 AM

Impressive! Yeh Mexico!

Marc - 4-26-2011 at 10:01 PM

Big mistake in 1996. I camped at Santispac Easter week. All Mexicans. They left the place a total garbage dump. Their idea of camping is walking around in their own mess. Beer cans. egg shells urine, coffee grinds...you name it. Good friday and they are gone. Fortunately a cleanup crew went to work and by afternoon the beach was back to normal (clean).

BajaBlanca - 4-29-2011 at 07:11 PM

so impressive !!!! clean clean clean .. a miracle ....

ddawson - 4-30-2011 at 10:54 AM

Great pics, thanks. I will not be visiting anytime around Semana Santa.
