Any pointers? I'd prefer to get the purified stuff so we can chip away at it for rum drinks.

The one I can picture in my head is on Olachea just off of Colosio....on the right if you're heading away from the center of town. There's one in
Chametla too....I know there are many scattered through town, but I have a purified processing plant in my refrigerator, so ice stores aren't a
landmark I go by! If it helps they're usually large white buildings with blue
trim.
PS Most stores, including small tiendas have bags of purified ice, as well!

You will find the one in Chemetla as you are heading out of La Paz towards Chemetla on the right after you go under the
last overpass.

I used the one in Chemetla many times. The way they drag the blocks around on the concrete shipping dock, if it was purified when they got it, it
wouldn't be by the time you get it. Despite that, I've plunked it in my c-cktail and never had a problem.MaxStar - 4-21-2011 at 11:34 PM
Thanks guys. I'll give those guys a shot. I can see by the picture that they're pretty busy this time of year...MitchMan - 4-22-2011 at 09:29 AM
Yeah, make sure at the one in Chametla that you do a good inspection. Just like above, when it gets down to the smaller pieces and there aint much
else in sight on the cement floor, be cautious. Usually, I just buy two or three bags of cubes at Ley's market or Chadrui market.
That lasts me for a day out on the water.Spearo - 4-22-2011 at 02:03 PM

Thanks
If you put enough rum in the drink it won't matter anyway!
Seriously, I've been drinking tap water and using unpurified ice in Mulege for years now with no ill effects. Of course, Uncle Sam sent me to enough
hellholes that my g.i. tract just laughs off sissy Mexican water.BajaBruno - 4-22-2011 at 10:15 PM
As an aside, I'm guessing that all of the ice places in that area get their ice from the same distributor, because when one is out, all of them are
out.
