Center striping added on most of the new northern 20 mile section, after Valle de Las Palmas, as well as a number of corner aramco barriers. 1 short
100 foot section remains unpaved, 8.5 miles past Valle de Las Palmes bridge at the bottom of the grade.
That particular bridge is now finally asphalted over, very smooth, no transition bumps or lumps.
Pothole crews have done a really nice job on the long stretch of chewed up road through Vallecitos, an old section of the original road.
Last weekend the military check point returned, approximately 15 miles north of
Valle de Guadalupe; this week, one week later, it wasn't manned again.
There is strong evidence of brush clearing and dirt scraping along the sides of many portions of the remaining "old paved road", the 20 miles in
between the southern newly paved section and the northern newly paved section.
All indications are that at some point they will begin tearing up the remaining 20 miles in the middle section of the old route 3 road and repave it
as they did the southern and northern sections of the road. Large earth moving machines and other road work machinery are already stationed up and
down this last 20 mile section of original road.
Hopefully it will be a different road construction contractor that gets this portion of the work.

After visiting my CPA we decided a quick trip to Baja was in order...WE decided to go down Hwy3 because we were just tired of looking at the
Pacific...Never thought I would say that...Anyway! To me the road was much improved since I last traveled it in 19 aught six.
Just spent the night at La Rosas and the day wandering around Ensenada...most dead! Talked to some shop keepers and they said they now only opened
when the cruise ships were in port.
Lunch at El Rey de Sol and dinner at Punto Morro...sure it strained my wallet but after the CPA is seemed like I was saving money.
Las Rosas started out a few years back at about two hundred a night...almost empty...still great at $89.00 a night.

How did you get the $89 rate? When I checked online the cheapest was $145 per night.

I stay there once in 2004 and at that time they had a mid week special for $75 a night. After 2 weeks of tent camping my friend and I decided to treat
ourselves to a little luxury. We flirted a little with the front desk guy while we were checking in and then went to the room. About 11:30 that night
out phone rings and it's him checking to see if we wanted some company! We declined, but got a kick out of it.
