What foods are prohibited from crossing into the US?
Is there a complete list of foods that are not allowed from Mx into the US?
Is there a list of Vegetables that are allowed to go home with me?

Go to the US Customs site and there is a list of items you cannot cross with. Which by the way includes dog food, even if it is american dog food
that you took South. They are very strict about dog food.

They used to hand out lists... but lately, I have not been able to get an updated one. This one was received at the Tecate border back in 2002:

Do not bring anything north-sooo not worth it-met a guy that had a stray pack of freeze dried soup that they found, obviously old, that he did not
declare and he was fined $175 buckaroos

One item not on David K's list that I remember seeing announced above the border crossing was cheese. Don't know if it was an exception for that
period or if that was a permanent change. I noticed David's list was from 2002, that posting on the border was around January, 2009.

Yah, things they are serious about the past couple of years also include dog food (even U.S. made dry kibbel), firewood (even U.S. purchased wrapped
bundles from the market), excess dirt/ mud on vehicle (now get a car wash before leaving Baja), chicken, pork (incl. sandwich meat), eggs... and
Californians can only bring back one liter of booze (or 3 cans of beer) per person 21 and over.
We just don't bother bringing anything back anymore... as the new gaurds don't bother to have the list or learn what is on it... a while ago at Tecate
we declared our couple of limes (permitted), but still got sent to secondary because the agent said he didn't know but since limes were related to
oranges, and oranges aren't allowed he tagged us! lol
The ag inspector at secondary (after waiting 15 minutes for her) saw the paper and said out loud "limes?" and sent us on our way without looking.

Don't bring back anything!! It is a pain in the _______. When they ask you if you are bring back anything it is fastest and easiest if you say
"nothing" and have nothing (because you don't). Our first stop once we get over the border to the USA is for dog food. Nancy
