Does anyone know of any boats that go to the Hurricane Banks and likewise places for the big tuna’s and Wahoo? I know that there are many charters out
of San Diego such as the Red Rooster but the thought of that long boat ride down does not appeal to me.
I suppose that the 200+ lb Tuna and big Wahoo has always been on my “bucket list” but the expense and lack of time due to work would not permit this
fantasy. Now that I have a few peso’s saved and can make the time to do a trip like this, does anyone know of any charters that start and end in Cabo?
I have done my share of fishing in the SOC, etc., and have caught tuna in the 30 lb to a max of 65 lb range but never anything bigger. This might fall
under the category of “careful what you wish for” but what the hell; you only go around this lifetime once. (Unless you are Buddhist and I guess they
keep coming back)
I know this will be some bucks so I am not looking for a private charter, just boats similar to like the ones in the San Diego fleet where there are
around 25 passengers on a large boat.

you can fly to cabo after putting your gear on in SD, meet the boat and fish, then fly back to SD and meet the boat and get your gear and fish.

The Success runs some trips out of Mag Bay, they look pretty interesting. I don't think they go all the way out to the Hurricane Bank though.

There is nothing like the San Diego sport fishing fleet anywhere in the world. Usually if you target 200+ tuna, you're not fishing for woos.
If you want a shot at cows without the long boat ride you might also look at the Apollo's Dec. trips. Fly to Loreto get transported to San Carlos and
fish the next day in tuna town. They are open party trips with a limited load. I have not been on this trip but J J and the Apollo is a first rate
boat. He is also part of a very good code group so you'll be with the long range fleet at the best time for cows.

The Success is a small long range boat, maximum 10 - 12 fishermen, that runs relatively short trips for yellowfin and wahoo out of Lopez Mateos on Mag
Bay. If not completely booked, they will sometimes give discounts to get a full load. It's no long run to fish out of Lopez. Two hours out of Boca
de Soledad and you are on the tuna banks, or a little bit longer down the estero and out the entrada south for a shot at the bigger yellowfin.

with the exception of the red rooster, the majority of long range boats are out of the following landings.
hopefully if you are in baja, you either have skype or one of the other " not so expensive " phones.

There are some high end yacht charters that go there but it's big bucks, like $5K or more a day. Your best bet as others have said is a fly down, fly
back with the Sandy Eggo fleet.
One other thought, if you want the cow tuna, take a look at Puerto Vallarta, probably the most reasonable of all.
