RV parks between San Quintin and Tecate?

RnR - 5-1-2011 at 12:13 PM

We're heading north soon and will be on a different timetable than in the past. We usually stay the last Baja night in the San Quintin area. This year we would prefer to be closer to the Ensenada/Tecate area.

We are two pickups/travel trailers. Hookups are not mandatory but showers and a walking distance restaurant would be nice. Suggestions?

On past trips I have noticed what seems to be an RV park (??) with small trees with gravel parking spots down below Hwy 3 on the right, very near the winery area. Anybody know the name or what this actually is?

Thanks for any help.

Right in Ensenada, it is not much, I believe it is
called Playa RV Park, VERY funky, it is though
walking distance 6 blks to the center of Ensenada.
Look at ontheroadin.com, scroll down a bit to the
map of Mex, with the green lines, click on the area
around Ensenada, it may provide info

There's a RV park in Ensenada just south of the university called Kings Court. Nice place, gated, secure.

There's also a resort east of Tecate called Rancho Ojai. It's about 12 miles outside of town off route #2. Can't vouch for the accommodations but they have a web site:

Stumbled onto an RV park in Ensenada......sorry, don't have the name, but looked nice for a couple of nights, within walking to several places to eat........do you know the Ensenada area???

It's on a side street, near the Navy base.

I noticed this one, too, but did not catch the name.

If you want to stop on the US side after crossing, there is Potrero County Park campground and another place called "Sacred Rocks RV Park" (tenting and RV).

If you are going towards El Centro, there is a good gated RV park with full amenities at Seeley called the "Sunbeam Lake RV Resort." If you don't have a reservation, you need to be there by 4 p.m. to register.

These all have websites. I don't know about the first 2 as we have only stayed at the one in Seeley (March 2011).

I think the small rv park in the winery district that you are referring to might be part of Rancho Sordo Mudo, which is a free boarding school for deaf children. I don't remember it costing very much and someone used to come down from the school to collect the money, which goes to help support the charity.
