Update: Hotel Los Arcos For Sale

Bajatripper - 5-2-2011 at 08:59 PM

I just noticed a big "For Sale" sign hung on the front of the Los Arcos Hotel in La Paz. The small print says the reason for the sale is to cover the salaries owed to the workers--who have been on strike for almost two years.

Something else that I've noticed that may be relevant is the almost-finished small pier that has been built by the municipality across the street from the hotel. I've wondered for some time if a deal hasn't been struck between people with "palanca" in the government to build the pier to benefit the new owners of the hotel (assuming a buyer has already been found and they're now just going through the motions to make it look clean).

I will post photos tomorrow, it was already dark when I noticed the sign.

Its not for sale, its just the stupid workers who have this illegal strike playing jokes.

The small pier, my guess is that it is for the ferry to the Magote project.

For the upcoming 3 year anniversary of the strike, there will be a huge festival, a holiday and parade! Pos Viva La Paz.

I don't really care who owns it. I just pray it re-opens. It hurts too much every time we lose another icon of Baja. Just as I wish they had rebuilt La Perla after the fire.
