Skeet/Loreto for real???

Ron_Perry - 5-5-2011 at 06:20 PM

I mean......has anyone ever met this guy? How many years in Loreto? Or is he someones alter ego, or their idea of a joke. He seems able to bait both liberal left, and conservative right. My mind is working overtime trying to draw a picture of this guy. Whats he look like? HE CANNOT BE FOR REAL!
A fifth grade dropout one sentence, then articulate the next. Some- one is behind the keyboard having a grand laugh at the expense of many a Nomad. Lets see a picture, some proof. Skeptical Ron

Eli - 5-5-2011 at 06:25 PM

I have met Skeet and I must tell you he is as he posts. Skeet goes way back, one of the original Baja Bush Pilots before such a thing existed. He is part of old Baja and was a good friend to my Dad. By the way, even though I don't always agree with his perspective, (to say the least), I believe he is a good and kind soul and that is what matters most in this world.

Yes, Skeet is the real McCoy of Baja back when it wasn' so P.C.!

Here is Skeet (with Eli's dad, Mr. Jimmy Smith, wearing hat) at Keri's first Pyramid Resort Book Signing Event May, 2003, when I met him:

If he isn't real, why would you want to ruin the illusion? He adds more entertainment value here than anyone else these days.

Perhaps the similarity between Skeet and Jackson Pollack is more than mere coincidence. :o

When you have a mangy, feral cat that comes to your back door as twilight falls, the best advise is not to feed him.

capt. mike - 5-6-2011 at 05:40 AM

skeet is real, met in mulege and also the book deal in hotel so. of TJ called pryamid

TMW - 5-6-2011 at 09:50 AM

I've met Skeet. He came by my home to drop off several bags of coats for the children in the CD Constitucion area by way of a doctor there. He is what he is. I think he is a good old soul with many years of experience.

Bajamatic - 5-6-2011 at 10:03 AM

In a shocking turn of events, i can also verify that skeet is the real McCoy. It appears my grandfather knows him. While he can't verify his employment history (with appears to cover about everything but the Commander in Chief), he can attest to a very wild imagination and a semi-unstable and excitable, albeit fun individual.

Mexitron - 5-6-2011 at 10:15 AM

Skeet is, if nothing else, authentic. I'd travel with him in Baja anytime as I'm sure he'd have lots of wisdom and info to pass on to this traveler, politics aside.

Well said, Ditto's....

elgatoloco - 5-6-2011 at 11:27 AM

I have a Baja map that Skeet personally wrote all his favorite locations for various activities on. Still a few places left on there to check out.

Thanks Skeeter!

full disclosure it was all handled thru the US mail :saint:

Never met the man but have been talking to him for over ten years and he,s no different today as he was then,he has forgot more than most has learned, one of my favorite nomads.

DENNIS - 5-6-2011 at 12:01 PM

It must be embarrassing for poor ol' Skeeter to have everybody talking about him like this.

Skeeter and I have a mutual friend named Hyrum.

toneart - 5-6-2011 at 12:18 PM

OK! Enough people have verified that there is an old timer Baja pioneer named Skeet.

Nobody in this string is noticing or questioning who is making all the posts in his name. There is a wide discrepancy in the levels of literacy and education in many of Skeet's posts. This gap has turned up very recently, which suggests that someone else is writing for him. :?::?::?:

Further investigation sees a style shift as the day wears on. Maybe there is a Hiram Walker in the mix.

Skeet/Loreto - 5-6-2011 at 12:31 PM

If I may suggest it after about 5 O'clock it could be a Two-Eyed shift.

Good Nomads I think I may know of what you are saying but I will await the Important Announcement coming up May the 17th befor commenting.

Skeeters here and there

MrBillM - 5-6-2011 at 12:36 PM

For whatever else Baja Oklahoma might be, it is a place where Skeeter would NOT be considered an ODD character.

Which says something about Texas.

Skeet/Loreto - 5-6-2011 at 03:47 PM

Yes , and Mr Bill that is one , just one , good reason all those People are coming to Texas. The Best State in the Union-

Y'all Coming ?

MrBillM - 5-6-2011 at 04:34 PM

The BIGGEST reason that ALL of those people are coming to Baja Oklahoma is that it has the longest (and most porous) border. They'd be flooding into New Jersey IF it was in the same location.

The Skeeter is a Historical Resource

Gypsy Jan - 5-6-2011 at 04:58 PM

Like him, love him; disagree with him, hate him, it doesn't matter.

He lived for years in Baja and he has an enormous backlog of recollections.

I wish that someone was paying attention and making a record.

Skeet/Loreto - 5-6-2011 at 05:08 PM

Hey! It is Two-Eyed Tequilla time.

Thanks all you good Nomads for a Great Day.

Just you wait until the Great Announcment on May 17th

taoswheat - 5-6-2011 at 06:03 PM

Skeet spent time in Taos, NM- He is real and OK. If only our government could be as logical and direct!

Skeet/Loreto - 5-6-2011 at 06:14 PM

Hey Taos New Mexico is Great !! Not Santa Fe.
Yes I worked ffor my Uncle at Tres Rios when he had a Logging operation going in I think 1948/49. It was a poor operation so we ate a lot of Deer.
Later I was hauling Lumber to Roswell through Espinola. Got into a fight one night as i stopped and ended up Dancin with the Bride at a Wedding Reception. Boy did I make a Mistake!!

Had a peice of Property over on The Rio Rancho Riotos. Sold it for $36,000 Wish I had kept it a few more years.

Use to shoot jack Rabbits and sell them to the indians at The Taos Publeo for $.25 cents/
Met and made out with a 20 year old School Teacher one nite/ Wow!

Packoderm - 5-8-2011 at 10:29 AM

Is Skeet actually a real person? I've thought the same thing about Mr.Bill. I sometimes can't help but think that he is actually some progressive feigning to be a caricature of a lunatic, extremist, conservative aiming to turn people off to such a blunt world view. I've done this myself and posed as an extremist conservative who would want to drop the neutron bomb on Switzerland for its chocolate, advocate total property forfeiture of assets of those who possess any contraband regardless how minor, etc. All this was met with acceptance by the conservative weirdos, so I gave up. There is no extreme too extreme for these weirdos. Now I do not think of Skeet that way.

Skeet/Loreto - 5-8-2011 at 11:09 AM

Yes there have been changes in my Life since 2 years ago. That might be the reason for this changein my Mind:

2 years ago I had a Triple bypass while I was visiting in Calif. and my previous Home.Dr. Chugle of Modesto told me after the operation that he had just put 20 years on my life!

WOW!

I felt so good that I started getting more Activity in my Lodge, The Scottish Rite, and the Mule Skinners of the Khiva Shriners.
I had become disgusted at the various "Coffee Clutchs" of old Times that I had attented a couple of times. They only talk about their health Problems

Using some of my own experiences I started doing and saying how I felt about some of the Outlandish" things the Younger ?Generation was doing

small example: Using a GPS to tell them each turn to make instead of checkina a map, watching for the Numbers of streets etc. checking Landmarks etc. in other words "Not watching what goes on around them"'

I could also see that many of the Younger Generation accepts nearly everything told them by a Computer, a Lunatic/Nut, from the Media. I just like to point out some of these things in hopes that someone will take a second look and maybe learn the Real Truth, just think of the number of Students Ward Churchill taught about "No such thing as the Holoacost.

Anyway as I became more active, started feeling better physically I guess it also went to one part of the Brain. Who knows I am sure some of you will never look at the other side to see if maybe it is not just like you are being told??

Been visiting this site for years, but this discussion has me both worried and a little intrigued. I personally encounter right-wing loonies daily, and they never fail to amaze me in their notions. But, the statement

“Dr. Chugle of Modesto told me after the operation that he had just put 20 years on my life!”

seems particularly bizarre. I work in a post-cardiac surgery unit and I could never imagine a surgeon making such a statement. I don’t doubt the surgery, I doubt the writer’s validity.

Bajafun777 - 5-8-2011 at 09:44 PM

I don't doubt a doctor telling Skeet about adding years to his life. I have heard doctors say similar things before. Now, maybe some of that is tongue in cheek conversation, however that does not stop them saying it. I believe some of this is as encouragement after operations to get the patient to try harder to stay healthy. Only the MAN upstairs knows how much time we have to the second! So, I hope Skeet gets those 20 years, as I hope I get them too,LOL!! Take Care & Travel Safe "No Hurry, No Worry, Just FUN," bajafun777

briantroy - 5-8-2011 at 10:17 PM

Bajafun,

I am only familiar with a dozen or so cardiac surgeons, your experience may be different, but I have never heard anything approaching the continuation of life promoted by a surgeon. The comment struck me as strange as the surgeons I have met would never do that. They will tell you the exact opposite, if they decide to talk at all. Personal doctors are a very different breed; internists promote false hope in order to raise spirits, which occurs every day.

JESSE - 5-9-2011 at 02:49 AM

I can't believe someone is asking if skeet is real, how times change.

Skeet/Loreto - 5-9-2011 at 06:59 AM

Troy: I was as surpised as you when the Doctor made that statement to me.

I do salomely and sincerely swear that he said those words to me at the Memorial Hospital following my Operation. My wife was also there at the time.

You seem to be saying that you know Doctors better than anyone .

Your use of the "Right Wing Loonies" tells the whole story/ Anyone who thinks Right Wingers are Loonie are just too Weak-Minded to know the difference.

DENNIS - 5-9-2011 at 07:25 AM

Skeet....You continue to be the master of diverting the story line. You just ride it around like a little, rudderless boat.

Keep up the fine work. Glad to hear we have twenty more years of it to enjoy.

choyero - 5-9-2011 at 07:39 AM

The surgeons told my father the same thing after he had SEVEN way bypass. I don't think they gave him 20 yrs though.

mcfez - 5-9-2011 at 07:40 AM

Hell....all we need is chrisx and goat666 here. What a great group these three idiots would make.

All three with their diverting bullcrapola nonsense. I'd rather come here and get back to reading about Baja.

I out for a while.

baitcast - 5-9-2011 at 07:43 AM

Had a quad-by-pass a year and a half ago and the Doc told me he just gave me 10 years more, six months later I had two stents installed and one month ago stent number three, about that ten I have my doubts, just thought I would add my 2 cents.
Rob

briantroy - 5-9-2011 at 10:42 AM

Shocking that a surgeon would say those things. Guess I work with a more conservative group. I know that none of the doc's I work with would make such statements, but, I guess there are docs out there willing to go out on a limb!

wessongroup - 5-9-2011 at 11:05 AM

yeah, guess the doc could have said.. .Hell, your lucky to be alive and if ya make it another year you'd be doing great...

Good there are some with a decent bed side manner still, and not SO worried about "liability".. rather the patient's mental outlook on his life ...

Go for twenty, we all know its over when its over... and no one really has control over that ....... unless they are pulling the "plug"... after all liability issues have been resolved for the physician and/or Hospital... please

[Edited on 5-9-2011 by wessongroup]

DENNIS - 5-9-2011 at 11:09 AM

I would imagine a lot of docs say a lot of things privately that they wouldn't say in public. I mean, they are there to make you feel good.

That's pretty much just what Wiley said right above. I have to learn to read before I write.

Ward Churchill may be a lot of things, but a Holocaust denier ain't one of them. Churchill's argument is against Jewish claim for exclusivity of the term.

Another example of Skeet's skewed skulduggery. He knows just enough about most everything to be dangerous.

Officially:

Academic misconduct. Specifically; plagiarism, fabrication and falsification in his lectures and writings about Native Americans.

Unofficially:

The university regents and governor didn't like what he said following 9-11. Blaming the victims and the U.S. government.
