That Deflated Feeling.

From a SMART Tire Valve.

Rented a car. 2010 (20700 miles) with "Smart" Tire Valve stems. Drove it 150 miles. Stopped for lunch (All-Beef Wienerschnitzel Dogs). Came out and saw one tire WAY Down. W-T-F ?

It turned out that the Dash Light was on, but so dim (and an unfamiliar car) that I "might" have missed it earlier.

SO, I go to a Service Station and "try" to air it up. NO GO. ?????

Drove over to PEP BOYS. By then, almost flat. The Bad news was that they were fairly busy and we had to wait awhile. It turned out that the Valve stem was Defective.

having driven over 50 years and NEVER had a Valve stem simply Go Bad at that age for no "apparent" reason, I'm wondering IF there is something about the SMART ones or simply Bad Luck ? I don't see anything in a Net Browse.

ANYBODY ???

BTW, I was turning onto 86 from the Forrester detour at Noon right behind a Bronze Ford-F250 4wd Lic # "BAJAROB". The Nomad guy ?

AND, BTW, BTW, about PEP BOYS. When they finished and I walked up to get my keys and pay the Bill - NO CHARGE.

"We do a lot of business with Enterprise and we're happy to be of service".

WOW !

Air Gone Away ? No se !

Walked out this a.m. to take the car back to Enterprise.

Tires looked fine.

"Inflation" light back ON.

Decided that I'd better tell them the story. Making it clear beforehand that I didn't expect or want any rebate of any kind. I'd still be back the next time I needed a rental.

As a result, they sent the car over to the shop. Told them I'd like to check back and find out what they found.

Got the Bill. They still insisted on a $5.00 (customer satisfaction) rebate.

Velly Interesting, as Charlie might say.
