krafty - 5-6-2011 at 03:48 PM

Was downtown today and I saw the beginnings of the meters-$1.00 or 13 pesos per hour....WTH?????

A non-issue

There is absolutely nothing in Rosarito worth seeing.

Bet they are the same contract outfit putting the meters in at Puerto Nuevo. Rosarito is averaging two car thefts per day- so who will park around the corner on a side street instead and let their car out of their sight? Not many.

When we will they understand the "other side" and stop shooting themselves in the foot? On top of $4 gas it's a buck an hour to park?

They had better have a plan for a free public beach parking lot to get around this "contract parking" issue or tourists will just drive past central Rosarito to points south that are free.

Since you are obviously of a different opinion why would a few extra dollars for parking matter?

I'm still holding out hope for Rosarito to recover. They need a "draw" beside fried lobster to bring people down and make the visit to Rosarito a value again. The bad US economy + $4 Gas + 2 hour border wait + $1/Hour parking is a hard sell. Theyh are trying events (like the "Taco and Beer Festival") but that isn't 24/7. (How about all taco shops in Rosarito sell "traditional Rosarito" fish taco's and Tecate beer for $1 each at all times? LOL). That Zeta article on rampant Rosarito police corruption isn't very encouraging either. Tourism is dependent on public security. They need to get it together, and quickly- but it's still possible.

What the Heck are they thinking. Tourism is so down already...that will
surely kill it off some more!!

They should be offering FREE parking with armed guards to protect the cars from being broken into or being stolen!

Not true, you never get past Zona Norte. Here is a clip of your latest visit.

13 Ps per hour?? WOW....that's about twice minimum wage. If I ever find myself putting money into one of those things, it will only be another step in a series of mistakes I made that day starting with just being there.
