This guy came to visit this morning. He announced him/herself by hammering on the neighbors roof for awhile.

Have quite a few around Nopolo/golfcourse.
Don't they usually have a red spot on top of their head?
When we still had the 9 ft C band dishes, one would wake us about every morning at daybreak with his hammering on the dish.
They are quite comical.

Both are Gilas. Male has the red cap.mulegemichael - 5-8-2011 at 04:16 PM
a really close second is the ladderback woodpecker...they make me crazy in the spring by hammering on our metal chimney trying to attract a
mate...also just wreak havoc on our grapefruit tree in winter...they like sweet grapefruit as much as we do...and they know the SECOND that they are

You'll need 7 or 8 for a good meal. Russ - 5-9-2011 at 12:35 PM

I know that. Kinda like dove (white wing). I just bought some more oranges thinking I could marinate then a bit before I shot them again.
