Mexicans tire of U.S. woes in the news

Osprey - 5-11-2011 at 07:53 AM

I like to keep abreast of what's happening in the good old U.S. of A. but with devistating floods, economic strife, wallet buster gas prices, it can drag you down.

Doesn't bother me all that much but I've had to limit my dog Fea's U.S. news time on TV to an hour a day.

The US news cycle is from one crisis to another that's just the way news is. As they say if it bleeds it leads. People always say they want happy news but when it comes to ratings happy news always loses to the negative stuff. A lot of news operations will end a newscast with something positive and heart warming but the hard core stuff is what gets them the ratings and ratings means money.

Aljazzera, good general reporting.

My wife's family in Northern Colombia hear about Earthquakes and floods, making them worried for my Wife's safety and health here in the USA.

As George Will once wrote:

"A plane landing safely at an airport isn't news"

Fea's got a skeptical eye and it is warranted.
