Bob H - 5-12-2011 at 12:33 PM

Love old photos.... where is #2 and #3 located? How long ago were these taken?

Ken Bondy - 5-12-2011 at 12:57 PM

Thanks nena!! Nice memories for me too.

Bob, I am pretty sure that #2 is the main drag in Bahia de Los Angeles, can someone confirm that? I think #3 is Cabanas de Los Arcos in La Paz, although it might be the pool in the back of the main hotel. They were all taken in early 2001.

#3 is the main pool area for the hotel... Cabanas were all one story..

Good to see you too scout!! Would LOVE to see your photos, you must have an incredible collection. Easiest way to get photos on here is to use a photo hosting site like Photobucket. Once it's on the host site you copy the direct link to the photo, and paste it into the little photo icon that is right above the new message box (it's the fourth icon from the right). David K has some excellent step-by-step instructions, maybe he will jump in here and help.

Hello?

Mac, is that an Irish computer?

I can't be sure how a Mac works to upload photos... but, for the rest of folks with PCs, load your desired photos onto a photo host site, like Photobucket.com (it is free).

Before uploading, click on 'Customize your upload options'. This is where you re-size the images so they 'fit' on Baja Nomad, without stretching the screen wide... causing difficulty in viewin photos and reading text. Choose a size that is no greater than 800 pixels wide... 640 works great.

Then, once your photos are uploaded to Photobucket, simply select the IMG link for that photo (displays when mouse is placed on image you want)... Copy that URL and paste it right on the Nomad posting area, between you text or with captions added. Post as many photos as you like, but try and keep it to about a dozen photos per post/ reply... for those with less than the fastest Internet.

Do not use 'Browse' unless you want to show only one photo and it is less than 50 kbs in size.

Best of luck!

Found two more. I definitely know where this was taken :)

And this one too, he was on the wreck of the Salvatierra in La Paz bay:

The power lines shown in Ken's photo are from the generator that used to run smack in the middle of town.

The lines that I think you two are thinking about are the ones that now run from Hwy 1 into town.

Nice little journey for the mind, thank you Ken Bondy.

monoloco - 5-13-2011 at 06:10 AM

Scouter, It's super easy to post photos from a Mac, I haven't used flickr, but in photobucket you just drag the img. codes onto your desk top, then you can drag them into your post.

Frank - 5-13-2011 at 06:32 AM

Hey Scout, thought I would help you out a little. You have the right idea and your almost there.

You just need to add ... to the end of your link.

Love your road pictures, scouter. Thanks for posting. I hope you have more to share.

DENNIS - 5-15-2011 at 06:25 AM

I agree. That shot is exceptional, like a blend of two environments.

scouter - 5-15-2011 at 09:18 AM

any one want to guess where the flower pic was taken??

If i could only share the aroma we enjoyed at that stop...... it was unbelievable..

Ken Bondy - 5-15-2011 at 09:39 AM

scout you can scan those old prints with a flatbed scanner. There are some very good ones on the market now in the $100 range.

scouter - 5-15-2011 at 10:06 AM

trip to best buy tomorrow.... thx Ken

DENNIS - 5-15-2011 at 10:14 AM

Hey Scout....if you still have your negs, look into one of these. This is the type I have and it's simple to use.

I'll start... with Mag Bay plain.

Perhaps you can tell us where the last pictures was taken. The one with the island in the distance. That's gotta be Isla De La Guardia?

No. No. No. It's the Vizcaino desert. Just north of L. Manuela.

scouter - 5-15-2011 at 12:36 PM

Skipjack you are correct !! the last one was looking back towards Loreto on the road to San Javier

We had stopped to rest our kidneys and my co pilot said "Dude get out your camera " we ended up spending about 45 minutes there enjoying a cigar and the beauty of it all then.... it was 80 MPH all the way to hotel Brennan

Easy on a Mac. Sign up with Photobucket. Load images X 800 to your album. Paste image code to your post here. For multiple images on one post paste image codes and text onto "Text Edit". Then paste that onto post. Don't post wider than 800 or Grand Pooba may either downsize or remove them. If you do it this way you can post more than one at a time.

Your pictures are cool, but to wide. Good luck!
