The taco shop in the parking lot adjacent to the Pemex in Cantamar (the place with the lighthouse tower) was closed up for six months.
It is operated by the family that owns and operates Sandra's Restaurant in Puerto Nuevo.
Tacos Cantamar is a very nice place to eat alfresco on the palapa shaded deck, looking out to the northeast at El Coronel mountain where one of Pancho
Villa's generals is rumored to have buried his stash of treasure.
We ordered two grande quesadillas - one carne asada and one babacoa de res (shredded, stewed beef in a mildly spicy sauce) in flour tortillas, also a
shrimp taco, a fish taco and a barbacoa taco in corn tortillas.
$128 pesos for a huge meal and there was plenty leftover for lunch today (the fish taco reheated in the microwave was simply delish).

Ah, it is easier to find the rewards at Tacos Cantamar than gold or money at El Coronel mountain--- Think I will hunt for tacos at Cantamar, LOL!!

Cantamar is an old name from the past for me. Sounds delicioso! A cold beer and sweet beachside tacos with a view up to the mtns. Thanks for

Just so you know, Tacos Cantamar does not sell alcoholic beverages.

I was really looking forward to trying this place yesterday. In the past, every time I've driven past, it was closed.
I drove by Tacos Cantamar yesterday around 11:30a.m. and everything was closed up. We asked a gentlemen setting up sand bags on the dirt roadway
between the taco stand and the Palm Restaurant just to the north, and he said they've closed up. He said they took all the equipment out and left. I
believe the picnic tables were gone from the wood patio area.
Maybe he was just trying to get us to come inside his restaurant.
Not sure, but one more time I've gone by and one more time it was closed.

Never cared much for that place, ate there dozens of time while i stayed at Cantamar, it was expensive, average, and the portions small.

Is somehow related to the closing of the Cantamar Pemex.
They certainly didn't shut down due to lack of business.

For good tacos in Primo Tapia/Cantamar, try Mariscos Alegria. Battered and sauteed shrimp tacos; delicious good battered fish tacos and shrimp, mixed
c-cktails with oysters and/or clams when they are in stock), campechana c-cktails and excellent fish soups and consomme.
Mariscos Alegria is located on the left side if you are going south, on the free road through town right next door to the glass window shop that is
next door to the tire shop.
