Hotel Azteca Inn, Ensenada

A big sign saying "190 pesos" sucked me into the joint.
I asked the nice lady at the front desk about this special rate.
It was for four hours only.

So the room I got for 290 pesos was clean and quiet.
The shower had slightly warmish water at great pressure.
The TV had lots of channels, maybe 7 in English and 3 in porno.
Room service menu included condoms, soap and snacks.
WiFi internet was free and fast.

Good parking.

I'm not scratching...yet.

Is there a play area for the kids??

Bajahowodd - 5-13-2011 at 04:35 PM

If memory serves me, this property is literally across the street and slightly up the block from Las Palmas Al Paraiso. On the North side of Sanguines. Far as I could tell, it's a motel-like property and likely does not have any play area for kids.

That said, having been a frequent customer of Las Palmas, that has a couple of restaurants and a pool, but is disturbingly close to the Waste treatment plant that can really make you want to hurl, given the price of Azteca, it ought to be a consideration.

However, the location is pretty far away from the downtown tourist action, including the restaurants. On Sanguines, there is Las Cazuelas, as well as a really good chinese place.

After all my years visiting Ensenada, I have three faves. If not interested in being in the thick of things, Estero Beach is the bomb.

If you want to stay in town, I really don't think you could do any better than Posada El Rey Sol and Hotel San Nicolas. Been doing Ensenada for almost four decades. JMHO

I was kidding about the jungle-jim.
I thought the Azteca, or whatever, was over on the Blvd, near the turn to Estero.

We stayed there about two years ago at around Xmas time, because it had a nice secure parking area and we had boards & kayaks tied up top of our van. Basic Baja accommodations and clean. There was a pool too, but alas it was empty of water when we were there. Back then it definitely was not as Vandy described, but there was a detached nightclub building in the back of the property -which must be a popular 'meeting' place nowadays . . .

Correct, Dennis..........southbound, on your left side, just before you drive down the hill past the Estero Beach turn......

4 hours? Sounds like a stabbin cabin!

vandy - 5-13-2011 at 10:15 PM

I especially liked, after getting the WiFi number key, the way the nice lady asked me: " Are you SURE you don't want ANYTHING else?", with one drawn-on eyebrow raised.

Friendly folks there!

Actually, the place was clean and quiet, but they stuck me upstairs in a corner in back...

I was there on Mexican Mother's day, and the restaurant/club was advertising "Dinner and a show" which I somehow missed.

In 2004 and 05 and I stayed at a "one night stand" hotel in TJ a few times for no other reason than it was a great deal;) It turned out to be a our favorite when we were spending some time in TJ. $35 bucks, four hours but if they weren't busy you could stay all night and I never got kicked out, always stayed all night. King bed, beautiful linens, well appointed and even had blackout drapes. Great security, you entered through a manned gate, paid there, didn't even need to get out of the car. Each room had its own garage door with opener. Go in close the garage, totally secure and discreet. Never had it but room service was available, food, booze, even Dom was on the menu and it would come up on a dumb waiter. Then to check out you drove up to the out gate and waited while they checked out the room and then you were free to go.

I swear that was the same room in the porno movie "Dennis does Tijuana". It was only a minute and a half long. Great dialog though.
