This is not a "trick." Many people live comfortably in trailers or homes that are built in gated parks that offer long term leases on the spaces.

This has been enlightening. I'm guessing there are plenty of Nomad subscribers who utilize long-term leases in RV parks when they come to Baja. Of
course, they are happily ensconced and not browsing the "Real Estate Available" forum.
What if the park owners suddenly changed their minds, sold the park to the Hilton family and skedaddled? What then? Let's see. You would have enjoyed your bungalow in the hills for about $550 a month (including security,
maintenance, and water) for a decade.
It's not right for everyone but it's perfect for someone.

I know you're dying to answer the lease question, but allow me to steal your thunder:
Buying property as a Land Lease means that you are only buying the “improvements” or the constructions of the land but you still pay a monthly fee for
use of the land for periods of up to 10 years. Mexican law indicates that leases lasting an excess of 10 years are illegal. Leases lasting 10+10+10
years are also not valid and will not hold up in court. If you are considering buying into a land Lease have in mind that at the end of the lease term
the land owner has every right not to renew.

With respect, wouldn't one also loose the cost of the improvement? An RV can be moved, but, in this case this lovely home is a $59,000 cost. Over 10

Bajamigo: Thank you. Yes, when you purchase anything in an RV park, you are just getting the improvements and any time left on the lease. The land
always remains the property of the park. The current lease expires in 2017 and the owner is including the renewal (for another 10 years) in the
purchase price. Of course, if someone was worried that come 2017, the park owners would not renew, we could start a new 10 year lease which would take
them through 2021.
Windgrrl: If you only kept the property for 10 years, it would be like renting it for $492/month + utilities ($70/month). RV's are great for people on
the go but if you're going to hang out for a while you'll really appreciate the space of the home (at least 4 times the size of an RV).
