Ya wooda thunk deposit Pacifico bottles could be turned back in for deposit refund...si? Not in Mulege anyway. What's a good use for these
things?..nine cases! stanburn - 6-9-2011 at 07:47 AM
Buy a case of beer and tell them to apply the deposit to the price. The issue is they don't like to part with cash. I have never had a problem here
doing that, but I do have a great relationship with the agencia.DENNIS - 6-9-2011 at 07:51 AM
It's been that way forever. No returns without a receipt. Maybe if you find a store that sells Pacifico in deposit bottles you could make a trade
for something other than more deposit bottles.
I've often wondered when they would phase them out. The handling has to be exoensive.
When all else fails, take them to the dump or a recycling yard.Hook - 6-9-2011 at 07:56 AM
Do the cases signify where you bought them? In small towns, especially, they dont want to pay for deposits on bottles that were purchased elsewhere.
Never a problem over here. They dont even look at the cases.
As a last resort, give empty cases away at Xmas. I only have one full set but everyone needs extras for breakage backups or for a large party at their
house.
I love bottled beer. Only drink cans when the glass is unacceptable.
At least over here, I believe Tecate stopped doing deposit bottles with their 355ml size. Only the liters, now.elizabeth - 6-9-2011 at 08:14 AM

Mix up a batch of concrete and build one of those bottle walls!!!DENNIS - 6-9-2011 at 08:14 AM

Don't think the box says anything, but you get a receipt when you buy it. No receipt could cause a return problem....unless they know you. Seems that
most return customers just use them for exchange, but the day will probably come when you want to do away with the smelly ol' things and the receipt
may be required.Trueheart - 6-9-2011 at 08:29 AM
Giving them (for value?) to an enterprising local should get them out of your hands. SteveBob H - 6-9-2011 at 08:43 AM
I was told, by someone that worked at a beer factory, that all bottles returned with limes inside them were just tossed out!BajaGringo - 6-9-2011 at 09:00 AM

A whole lot of years back, we would get bottles of Pacifico with limes in them. It was a local joke in Mazatlán.Oso - 6-9-2011 at 10:20 AM
It's happened to me. A blue moldy lime rind in a Pacifico bottle. I didn't finish it. I never put lime in beer bottles, although if drinking Tecate
in a can I like to squeeze some juice and sprinkle some salt on the rim.durrelllrobert - 6-9-2011 at 10:36 AM

Isn't there a magic trick where they stuff a chicken egg into a bottle?
Am I having a nightmare?
Anyway, it's not the whole lime. It's a wedge and they stuff it through the neck.....I guess. Not one of my things....for sure.
Stuffed Limes
MrBillM - 6-9-2011 at 11:51 AM
One of my mantle displays years ago was an example of WHY Clear Mexican Beer Bottles were a good idea. Pulling a Corona Extra out of
the case, I looked and saw a Lime Slice at the Bottom of the unopened bottle.
Kept it for years to show to anyone who came by.
After about Five years, I picked it up to show and the Lime was GONE. Disintegrated. A film of residue at the bottom of the Bottle. Poured it out.
I'm SURE the Quality Control is better now.

I've had luck turning in two cases when buying one and getting the credit. Makes for a pretty cheap case and the agencia still gets some cash for the
sale. Eventually you may whittle away your surplus.vandenberg - 6-9-2011 at 12:35 PM
Maybe quality control has improved over the years, but I can recall a Pacifico in the early 90's with about 2 inches of dirt on the bottom in the
unopened bottle. Not too appetizing.
Still drinking the stuff though.htnfool - 6-9-2011 at 04:01 PM
I bet if you take the cases to Russ's (ANA's) he would be more than happy to take them for ya, maybe give you a credit or something like that, maybe
even give you a couple bucks???
I never had a problem taking multiple cases back to Rauls, they just give me a credit for them. This is usually done while I am buying groceries of
course.krafty - 6-9-2011 at 04:24 PM
no recycling here so the neighbor took a bag over to recycle in Cali and they turned him around at the border.
Now we put cans out by the trash and they mysteriously disappear every time.Marc - 6-9-2011 at 06:54 PM

I wonder how anyone could drink a beer with a lime?BajaBruno - 6-9-2011 at 11:06 PM
Most of you, I suppose, remember when the empty bottles were worth as much as the beer inside of them. We would take the last case of the season to
the deposito and trade the 20 empties for 10 full ones. Sit on the steps and drink those 10 and trade them in for 5 full ones. Trade those empties
in for 2 more and a smile, then trade and fight over the last full bottle and drive or sail off across the border.
Some version of that experience might still work...Bob H - 6-10-2011 at 05:33 AM

NINE cases... now was that just from a week, a month, or a year of drinking beer? lolfunkynassau - 6-10-2011 at 05:49 AM
Do people in Mexico make their own beer like we do here in Ontario, Canada? That's what we'd do with them.DENNIS - 6-10-2011 at 05:56 AM

Beer in Canada costs around $35 per case at store but in Mexico it is around $15. No reason to brew your own David K - 6-10-2011 at 09:56 AM
Interesting when a government feels the need to make more profit in taxes on a product's sales, than the people who make the product!!
Gasoline also comes to mind... the government makes about 3 times the profit on a gallon of gas than the oil companies... But the governemnt blames
the oil companies for their profits!!!elgatoloco - 6-10-2011 at 10:18 PM

We used to buy from the deposito back in the 80s' & 90's in Primo Tapia and the owner would sign the box with date and price for easy returns
because he knew us by sight but we never had receipts. We were back in two or three or four times over a weekend. Now we just take down some nice cabernets and pinots or some bubbly.
