Going to San Felipe this weekend for the first time in a long time...Where is good place to stay these days? I'd like to be walking distance to the Malecon....
Thanks

Georges is a good choice, if you want a more resort
type Cortez motel on the beach, there are 3-4 in the
Malecon area, Red Lobster Motel, El capitian,
a blk or so back is Don Jesus, or close to that name.
Chapala motel MAY be the cheapest if that is a
consideration

Good choices sancho.

I prefer the Bajalou Resort too....down on the north side of San Felipe. Great turkey dinners are serve once in a while.

ahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa you sure do travel a lot - makes life worth living, doesn't it ? I only went to san felipe once, 25 years ago, and it was a small fishing vilage with one hotel and 5 tacos for $1. One dollar !!! 5 wonderfully spicy fish tacos !!!! Hope you take pics so I can see how it has progressed.

I vote Cortez Inn-stay ground floor near the pool. Restaurant there is wonderful too!

nbacc - 6-15-2011 at 03:01 PM

I vote El Cortez also. It will be hot there and you will be right on the beach! nancy

Spent the night at the El Capitan a few weeks ago...45 a night, one bed, downstairs...55 a night 2 beds upstairs (our choice). Basic Rooms, TV, Clean. Nice clean pool, Restaurant/bar above the office that was real clean and good service. Might get crowded with nationals on weekend. Close to George's. One block walk to Malecon. Other hotels are in the 80+ range.
Have stayed at the Cortez and the price is worth it for the nice stuff.

Gee. and when I saw the title, I thought this was going to a thread about how San Felipe needs hotels. It does!

Another vote for the El Cap if the price matters. A decent room and good parking near your room on an enclosed courtyard.

I vote the El Cap. Decent rooms and breakfast. close to Malecon and El Nido for a good steak. Easy parking too.

.........and then some more info
