Purchasing fireworks on highway 1

sourdough - 6-17-2011 at 04:29 PM

We are heading to Loreto on the 20th. We will be there through the first couple of weeks of July. Is there a good place to purchase fireworks for the Fourth? They will all be shot over the water from our boat. We have a 7 and an 8 year-old who are very excited about that particular holiday. If it's better we don't do it, we won't. Dennis

howdy...I'm sure others know a lot more about this but once at a military checkpoint we were hassled a bit about fireworks. maybe this crew was just bored and looking for something to do but maybe best to keep them a bit under wraps?

Stop in Ensenada if you are driving down and you will find a bunch of different shops that sell them. There are some shops near The Bahia Hotel on the street one block in from the main frontage road.

While we do buy fireworks and blow em off........I go to a spot to do the fireworks......way beyond any human housing. The noise is really hard on animals......and then there are some humans that will scream at you.

Please make sure that you are a good mile away from any dwelling.

Sounds rather dangerous to me if you plan to shot fireworks from an occupied boat especially with kids on board - I wouldn't even think of doing it myself. Jim

Tell the kids to sit...watch....and be happy:

last Friday at the El Rosario checkpoint heading south the soldier saw i had 4 seal bombs openly sitting on my center console. it was the only thing(s) that interested him. i told him "para los P-nche lobos marinos!" he shook his head in agreement and when i held one out for him he took it.

trust me, where i lit them there were no dwelling for 15 miles, minimum.

OUCH.....I grew up with this kid who was a real dope. I watched him lite a firecracker and throw the match.

Anyway....I don't know the size of the boat being used, but the thought makes me uncomfortable.

Thanks for the replies. Actually, the boat will be used to transport our group to a deserted beach outside the park. We're cautious people and will take prudent safety measures.
