I looked out my window this morning to see this huge fire burning in Los Barriles. Now we can here propane tanks exploding. Chatter on the VHF from
fisherman closer than us is that 3 palapas in the trailer park have already burned and the fire is still raging. The BV fire department is on the
scene and hopfully will get it under control soon. We are getting calls from folks as far away as La Ribera asking what's going on.
Please keep us updated.Eli - 6-28-2011 at 07:46 AM
Thanks for the post Mark. As if it wasn't hot enough already, ay, yi, yi. There are a lot of palapas tight togeather, and all those propane tanks,
sounds like a bomb in the making. Odd, I never thought about what that could be like. I hope everyone and their critters are safe, that is the first
concern.Bill Collector - 6-28-2011 at 08:03 AM
HI
Just talked with Liz she lives in Costa Bravo.. There was 4 homes damaged, all on the North side of the park..The fire is out, they are mopping it up
now.. They are thinking it started in a kitchen but at this time they really don't know.. NO one was injured, that is the good thing..Oso the park dog
is good, just scared..BajaGringo - 6-28-2011 at 08:19 AM
Glad to hear that nobody was hurt...toneart - 6-28-2011 at 08:21 AM
Which trailer park is it? Is it the East Cape? Some of those palapas were nicely designed and built. One of them belongs to Theresa's (park owner)
mother who is blind. I am glad nobody was injured. They are nice people and it is a beautiful park. Every trailer space is surrounded by exotic plants
that are identified on plaques.Bill Collector - 6-28-2011 at 08:25 AM
Dont' think that's the same place. Costa Bravo is in Los Barriles. IF you know the area, you would turn Right at Otra Vez head toward the beach. Its
a older trailer park, nice but it's older. There is only 4 homes occupied this time of year. None of those are the damaged ones..toneart - 6-28-2011 at 08:48 AM
OK, got it. I thought maybe "Costa Brava" was another name for the East Cape, or maybe the Las Barrilles stretch. Those photos didn't look like it was
on the beach.
The East Cape Park is not on the beach. If you go through town, it is just past the main part, on the left. Now I remember which park is the Costa
Brava.Bill Collector - 6-28-2011 at 09:07 AM
Your so right, East Cape RV is on the left hand side just past that, turning right towards the water is Costa Bravo.. Your right the photo's looked
like it was sitting further back. From our house which is across the water we didn't think it was Costa Bravo either looked like it was inland more..
I 'm on my over to visit Liz and see if there is anything I can do...BajaBlanca - 6-28-2011 at 09:32 AM
very sad. glad no one was hurt.monoloco - 6-28-2011 at 04:22 PM
Lots of damage and I'm sure it could have been worse. I hope the insurance companies pay up but ni modo... No one hurt with propane & fire &
gasoline in vehicles and palm Palapas! Here in Todos we have a few fire bugs who have been torching the Palm Groves which are all over here! They
have been let go because they are just kids!?? I live in a palapa style Home and always am vigilant about fire. Suerte, Amigos! Good on the water
truck Hombres!!! Tio

Darn, David. I was just in the process of doing the same thing you just did. Changed tabs. And there was your cross-post with pictures.
This looks terrible. And my sympathies to everyone that lost something.
